Don't think PBS international travel legend Rick Steves is on here, but he has been posting absolute fire on FB. He is not afraid to call fascism, fascism, and with eloquence. All while recovering from cancer. An icon.

He’s from the town where I grew up! Rick is an absolute treasure. And his travel bags are hecking great lol. My mom saw him at a rally last week and said he killed it! She got this pic. 🥰
He is a fantastic resource about not just where to travel but the cultural aspects for travelers to consider (i.e. how not to be the Ugly American).
Love and Light to him for continued recovery.
🙏💙🕯️
A brilliant and dedicated teacher who shows us beauty across the globe. He travels to share positive and painful historical insights, so we can learn, appreciate and grow together. Yes, scary lessons are there to guide us away from fascism and hate. A true leader. @ricksteves.bsky.social
This is part of the problem. The right wing echo chamber is concentrated in a few very high profile locations while the left seems to be scattered all around.
I miss his posts, when I followed him on that other septic tank site. We've had his books around the house for as long as I can remember. He should be here!
Ah, that’s great! He IS here! I am an avid watcher of his ongoing travel series on PBS and he never disappoints. It’s always fun to see the world and its food through his eyes.
Mark Twain wrote, “Travel is fatal to prejuidce, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.”
Twin Cities PBS aired his past show on Fascism in Europe over the weekend and I found it riveting and a stark reminder, seeing his political leanings I see why I was such a thoughtful and thorough representation
He actually did a pbs special where he talked about the legacy of fascism in Europe, I caught some of the interview they did with him and he was calling a spade a spade
He went into greater detail as to exactly why he did it in the fundraising interview he did. He was pulling no punches, which made me a little more hopeful.
Rick Steves' evolution from Travel Guy to today has been excellent to see. I think he has always been excellent and had these opinions, but the last several years has used these platforms to voice them more loudly and I adore him for it. I think he deserves more love from us all!
*I also am wondering if it's an older millennial thing to adore Rick Steves so much, especially the change from "look at the stained glass in this church" Rick to "this is fascism" Rick, or if it's just that I happen to follow a lot of people in my age group concerned about fascism 🫠
Wow I had no idea but best wishes for a full recovery and he’s always been a straight talker and we even took a crazy bus from Naples to Positano from one of his suggested trips. Scary but just one of the experiences that he shared with the world.
OMG, I've been liked by @ricksteves.bsky.social!!!
I am SUCH a fan, not only of his awesome travel advice and guidance, but also as a man who deeply supports PBS (and my OPB - thank you for pledge month participation!), and as a fellow protestor and thinking citizen of the world.

Now, the fourth wall is broken as the drama becomes a terrifyingly real nightmare.
Time to get up, get out and get active!
rather... INTERNATIONAL Treasure.

Also Bill Penzey of Penzey’s Spices. 🙂
Also, his documentary on fascism is brilliant

Not some cheap gold plated moron demanding we take him seriously.
We want to hear it
