Question for Californians: if you've tried to call either of your senators in the past week, have you been able to get through to share your opinions? I'm hearing some reports that their mailboxes are full and it's impossible to reach any staffer.

Its not only in CA. Its everywhere. I tried calling mine and only got through to one and only their local number mailbox. Tried calling congress main board and nothing
I managed to speak to a local rep last week.. I’ve also followed them here & am sending letters to all 3 (sen Padilla & Schiff & Rep Lofgren) tomorrow… I’ve also sent emails through your organization
I'm in North Carolina. I called Ted Budd and Thom Tillis today. In both cases, the outgoing message was garbled and very hard to hear. Budd's voicemail was full. For Tillis, I got a menu that asked me to enter a number to record various types of messages, and I was able to successfully leave a VM.
yes: mailboxes are full. “Indivisible” activist leaders are directing us to go to the physical offices of your reps, speak to the STAFFERS (go individually or with a friend/group)… be nice, but demand immediate action by court injunction to stop musk stealing!
Goes to V/M. No problem leaving multiple messages on either since the 20th. Schiff DC now full. Padilla DC has limited to office hours only. Padilla SF# was garbled today so couldn't understand info. Emails- Schiff has been responsive, and just received first reply from Padilla yesterday.
Yes. Or the audio on the recorded message is degraded. Like slowed down and choppy. Like a bad signal situation. Then "Unable to leave a voicemail, mailbox is full" for Schiff
I called the phone numbers of the DC office and all local offices of both CA senators at 4pm PST today and never reached a live staffer. I did eventually reach multiple open voice mailboxes for both senators. Audio quality was better today.
It's been tough to reach live staffers since last week. Today, it's impossible, and even their voicemail greetings are playing back with weird digital stutters, both at their DC and in-state offices -- maybe because the system is overwhelmed with callers?
I was able to leave a voicemail for both Padilla and Schiff on Tuesday. I called today and it was clear the system couldn't handle the call volumes and it said the inbox was full
I just checked my FB account and feed, I found 0 instances of anti Trump/Musk postings (including mine). It appears that in yet another win for “free speech”, all criticism of the current regime is being scrubbed.
For what it’s worth, I emailed Padilla and got a canned reply. Schiff’s page takes forever to load and I got no reply. I have no idea if the email even went through. I tried emailing again and the page never loaded. Oh, and it’s stupid that “saving democracy” isn’t an option for the subject line.
Tried to call my Vermont Senators today. Both Washington mailboxes are full, and their message machines are garbled. I was able to get through to their state offices and speak to staffers.
I called my senator @schumer.senate.gov and also got full voicemail. NJ folks reported same for @booker.senate.gov . How can this be a thing in 2025? A cheap 1 TB drive could hold millennia of voicemails. I assume @senatedemocrats.bsky.social simply do not care to hear their constituents.
That's what I meant - that I can't get through because the phone system can't handle the volume. I have no doubt that Padilla and Schiff are getting the message.
Could not get through to DC offices of either Hawley or Schmitt (sadly, my senators). Schmitt's was having technical issues. If you can't get through by phone, send an email.
I’m going w my local https://Indivisible.org group to Sen Padilla’s SF office tomorrow (I was on the call last night…& in Jan 2017), so I’m hoping the 1000s on the Zoom take your advise & show up. Reaching a staffer in person is just as important.
I was able to reach Padilla staff at the local (LA) office. I was unable to reach Schiff staff at the DC office, that number goes straight to voicemail.
@schiff.senate.gov ’s voicemail has been full for at least a week. I’ve at least been able to leave messages in @padilla.senate.gov ’s voicemail, but I’ve been unable to speak to anyone.
No. I tried calling both Schiff’s and Padilla’s offices today (2/3/25) and could not get through. I called my Congressman’s office — they are aware of the problem. I emailed both Senators with your CTAs from last night’s Zoom.

No, Tried to call Gillibrand and Schumer today. Gillibrand's district office voicemail is full. Left a voicemail at DC office. Voice mail for Schumer too. It's taxation without representation. I say staff the fucking phones!
I have reached out to both. I have spoken to someone in Padilla’s office and received a response to my email to Schiff and it actually spoke to my concerns. Going to my rep’s town hall today. Keep on calling and emailing.
To give the benefit of the doubt, could it be the phones have been ringing off the hook that it’s just impossible for them to keep up. I’m just trying to have some positive outlook here. 🤷🏻♀️
Tried calling both Padilla's and Schiff's office last Thursday, Friday, Saturday (Padilla's rang no answer),Sunday & today. Got "mailbox full" recordings or no answer. Sent both emails using contact section. I asked for a reply with action plan. Nothing yet. What's the incentive for not responding?
I was able to leave a mssg on Sen Padilla's voicemail. However, Sen Schiff's message was so broken up and full of static that I gave up and used his email. These were the Washington DC phone numbers.
Voicemail systems for both Senator Schiff and Senator Padilla were down over the weekend and sort of working this morning - garbled and breaking up (overwhelmed ?). So I emailed both Senators
Left a voicemail for Representative Huffman. But he's a feckless limp-dick so my message was a little snarky
CA resident here, Schiff & Padilla voicemail full this morning, tried again later, was able to leave a message on Schiff’s voicemail. Seems archaic that we can’t get through. Will try local
offices next.
I was able to leave at message at Schiff's LA line. It was jilted, and sounded poorly designed and inadequate. It came up as Diane Feinstein's old LA line, so I guess he took over office and infrastructure.
Padilla's LA mailbox is full. His message invites people to leave a "comment" on his website. Once I do get a hold of his staff I may just remind them he is a US Senator, not a private company seeking reviews.
I’ve called Padilla’s DC office 3 times over the last few days and a staffer has picked up every time. I asked to leave my name for follow-up and they said they’d only follow up if you email.
Up until today, I could leave a voicemail for Sen Padilla’s DC number. Sen Schiff’s mailbox has been full for several days. Today both of their mailboxes were full.
We’re experiencing this in NY. First time. The recorded message is often warped and unintelligible. So people can’t always leave voicemails. No one is reaching a staffer according to feedback I’m getting.
I've been able to reach Padilla's voicemail about 70 percent of the time and Schiff's vm only 20 percent. Schiff also doesn't list any of his satellite offices in a convenient place. Kudos to Hirono's office (which I called despite not being from Hawaii) for having extremely nice staff.
Had that experience calling Patty Murry, when you select the option to leave a message the call drops. I did get through to my Congresswomen, the panic in the staffers voice was audible.
Not just California's, also democratic NJ senators and house members. I called republicans and was able to leave messages. No one is calling republican congressmen and we should
Yep. I’ve left more than 2 dozen messages on the DC and local office voicemails for Padilla and Schiff in the past 5 days. Both have been full at times (true all day today). When that happens I send a resistbot letter or fax referencing the full vm boxes. I spoke with a Schiff staffer once.
I was able to get through to Senator Padilla earlier this morning. When I called later box was full.
Tried numerous times today for Adam Schiff was unable to connect.
I have been able to leave voicemails at Schiff's and Padilla's West LA offices. Schiff's DC VM is full. No staffer has ever answered (TBF I often call after hours, but even during business hours no one answers).
I was getting through last week. Went in person today and had a friendly chat at Padilla’s S.F. office with a group of 7. Schiff’s office locations aren’t listed… feels real odd
Dems in Congress setting the record straight, saying they hear us, and are asking everyone to please focus their attention on demanding GOP Congress DO THEIR JOBS. They hold the power and have illegally given it to Musk. https://www.youtube.com/live/dz7U8mybnA0?si=tIugwCQsCaXHAJLU
I've just been emailing them, and I actually got a response from Schiff's office. I'm guessing that that might be the best move for now if their voicemail boxes are full. Gov. Newsom's box may be full, as well.
Same for Montana senators and almost all red state senators voice messages in their own mail boxes are garbled or full. Trumpers are on speed dial threatening their senators to stick with Trump.
Spoke to someone at @padilla.senate.gov’s office last week. Unable to leave message for @schiff.senate.gov. And what’s worse — can’t find info on local offices for Schiff. Anywhere. It’s like they don’t exist. Padilla has regional office locations and numbers on his website. Not Adam. Fuckin’ weird.
I called this morning and the connections to both senators were very bad and senator Schiff’s mailbox was full. I didn’t have any trouble with representative Mike Levin in San Diego. Left messages where I could.
Have tried multiple times and I email instead. Our representatives no longer represent us and they do not want to hear from us. I was able to get through to my republican congressional representative today. Interesting. Schiff only has a number in DC. We could have had Katie Porter.
NY, too! I didn’t bother leaving a message for either senator, despite calling dozens of times today, because the connection was so bad I wasn’t sure it would be clear.
I was able to leave a message for Mark Warner's staff at th DC numbers on Friday night
Tim Kaine's offices don't even take messages after hours or on weekends, which seems ridiculous.
Reached DC voicemail at first, then yesterday the system wasn’t working well and could not get through to Schiff at all. Schiff has no local Los Angeles number to call!
Here are local California numbers for Schiff: LA 310-914-7300, SF 415-393-0707, SD 619-231-9712, Fresno 559-485-7430. I have been able to leave voicemails at the LA number
I have left voicemails. I have not spoken to Alex Padilla. I asked him to respond to me every time. He has not done so once. I called this weekend. They don’t allow messages on weekend in voicemail box. So I emailed him. No replies to emails. Not even an auto reply to say they got my message.
Correction:I have received 3 auto replies -the same content in the auto reply each time. But this weekend, I wrote to Padilla and received nothing. And his office has not personalized their responses at all.
That’s happening in PA too! I tried calling both of my Senators and their voice mail was very crackly and McCormick’s was too full to leave messages. What is going on?
NJ here (sorry) fyi, for *at least* a week it has been impossible to get in touch with Booker. Both DC voicemails full and no one answers at local offices.
I was able to leave a voicemail for Sen Padilla last week. I also emailed him and received an auto response (good to know my email went through). Schiff's voicemail was full, but I sent him an email, too.
It has been a mess ... some people I know have been able to get through to actual people. I've only gotten through to voicemail boxes, and in Adam Schiff's case, "mailbox is full."
Same problem in NY. Couldn't reach Gillibrand or Schumer's people yesterday -- tried both DC office and district office. Again today, busy signal for both of Schumer's offices. Was able to reach a staffer in Gillibrand's DC office today.
I tried both @schiff.senate.gov and
@padilla.senate.gov and they had messed up outgoing messages and no one picking up. I believe it was @schiff.senate.gov who skeeted there was an issue. I sent emails.
I have left messages for Schiff and Pelosi, although Schiff’s DC mailbox was full and I had to call the SF office to leave a message. Padilla’s SF office mailbox was full and his DC office didn’t have an option to leave voicemail.
FWIW, Schiff/Padilla took over Feinstein and Harris’s phone numbers (and presumably their phone systems). Both Feinstein and Harris’s voicemails frequently filled up all the time in early 2017 — I remember at one point ISF and IEB were directing people to call the Fresno offices even
I just called Schiff today and couldn't get through. Mailbox was full and all of the prompts telling me that I can talk to an operator went dead. Padilla vm was garbled. Over and over.
No, I can’t get through to either. Both have garbled messages. I was able to leave a message with Senator Padilla but @schiff.senate.gov has nobody answering the phone and the voicemail is full. Not good given that democracy is collapsing. #california #uspol

offices next.
I did go their websites and sent a message to both.
And I was able to get ahold of my Congressman’s office and gave a message to a real person.
Also they should be answering the g**d*** phones.
I’ve emailed as well. Have received automatic replies from @padilla.senate.gov - absolutely no response from @schiff.senate.gov
OK. Go buy a book about professionalism in the workplace.
Gift wrap it.
Walk it down to their office.
Tell them you have something for them.
And then smack them across the face with it.
Or read a book like trump does?
Tried numerous times today for Adam Schiff was unable to connect.
i think the bm system is badly broken!
Today, the vm system was garbled so I don't even know if anything went thru
Tim Kaine's offices don't even take messages after hours or on weekends, which seems ridiculous.
Padilla could leave message
Padilla VM compromised since Sat
Matsui staff person bored/negative
I voted for all three of these and if they ever want my vote or another dime from me they better show some ACTION immediately
