Well to be fair, the top 1000 Americans are not so much making an income as living off loans where their investments are collateral so getting good data on the ultra rich is really difficult
True. But the median income for individuals (not households) was $40k in 2022 (and the overall mean was $60k, so its disagreeing with the sources OP relied on in some way).
I'm autistic, I can recognize a joke and still want to treat it seriously for a minute ;P
And yeah that was my point. Most ultra-wealthy people don't live off salaries, they don't even live off capital gains. The Musks of the world borrow a shitload of money so they don't have to spend their own.
Income isn't an accurate measure of wealth regardless. You want to know the percentage of assets held. The top 1% in America hold about 30% of all assets in the US. I based that rough estimate from info on the FRB.
the average age in the ancient times to about start of industrial age is estimated to be around 30 something. this is mainly due to infant and child deaths. If you made it past your teens you probably lived until at most 65 something or even older (general guess lol).
And around half of US adults don't register as having any income whatsoever and thus are excluded from the calculations entirely, distorting the number even further higher.

The sooner we get the numbers, establish mutual aid so we can maintain the strike as long as needed, and solidify our demands, we can #generalstrike and end this #shitshow.
I'm baffled that people just keep bitching and arguing instead of taking this very direct action
Which even the trickle down guy pointed out would be an issue, and lead to great inequality and potentially destabilize things. Without also having a Negative Income Tax measure acting as a form of UBI. They just took the part they liked.
Well maybe if you dumb fuckers learnt to read and didnt vote shit as a leader it could improve...
this way its tough right?

I make more than all of these and I still agree we need radical change. I started with 75K at a non-union gig and nearly died of a heart attack. Now I got a union gig with 80-100K depending on how much i sail, but the mortgage is eating damn near everything. Only got it cuz the VA, taking that too
We can approximate it as close to but below two. The actual number is easily derived from the population rate of lower extremity amputations (1) and bilateral lower extremity amputations (0) but I'm too lazy to look up what those numbers actually are
Yup, it's similarly a little below two because more people are gonna have fewer than two arms than more than two arms so it's always skewed to just below two. Same with eyes, ears, hands, feet, etc.
In games where income inequality is a thing in nation setup, why fixing that is priority one, as a nation where the average income GDP wise is significantly closer to median income, tends to be easier to defend, grow, and is much more stable politically .
Genuinely any honest evaluation would understand that the small group of highest earners represent a deviation so great as to not be relevant to the average.
never notice how nobody reports the mode? it would be really unfortunate if we were to you know study that and then find out that the mode is lower than the median like for instance with most households falling in the 30,000 to 75,000 range
Mode can be finnicky when you're dealing with numbers that have a lot of variance like income. Then you have to make subjective decisions like where to truncate and call numbers the same so like is 21,000/yr the same as 21,999/yr? Median is more useful for what we're looking at here imo.
y'all the hidden decisions aren't "ok lets inaccurately report the data" its "how do we simplify the results in a way that meaningfully represents the reality"
a thousand dollars, hell, 3 thousand dollars spread out over 12 months is not gonna change most people's economic outlook.
Yeah, but the point is mode is prone to outliers unless you mess with the cutoff and the more you truncate the less useful it becomes as a statistical tool
That looks right. I started working in the late 90s, making $10/hr under the table. And adjusted for inflation, I've never made any more than that. That'd be $32/hr today 🤣. That same job, at the same company today pays $5/hr plus tips.
now point out the necessary cutoff to receive over 90% of the benefits considered "welfare"/"disability" being under 12,000 a year regardless of the nature of your reason for needing it

Any chart of personal wages excludes capital gains which is where the wealthy make out.
And yeah that was my point. Most ultra-wealthy people don't live off salaries, they don't even live off capital gains. The Musks of the world borrow a shitload of money so they don't have to spend their own.

Makes people sit and think about how averages work.
Still, wild to think about, grand scheme
Terra Invicta is one
a thousand dollars, hell, 3 thousand dollars spread out over 12 months is not gonna change most people's economic outlook.
Crazy to think that was basically $15/hr when I was born.
Jus’ sayin’.
