If this were free markets and the rule of law, or fm and democracy or fm and freedom then I cld see worse things. But while I v much support “personal liberties” in context this sounds like a pure right wing turn.

Like a wet dream of Rand Paul.
“I no longer believe that freedom and democracy are compatible” etc.
Bezos is clearly just protecting himself, but people need to be clear about what this is.

Merely bitching about them is not going to send a message.
And anyone who hasn't unsubscribed to everything Bezos is doing it wrong.
That's what I hear when someone like Bezos talks about "personal liberties"
Any freeper who believes Trump is about liberty doesn't get fascism.
Thinning the herd.
@washingtonpost.com needs to be pummelled out of existence. It's done. The old, respected Graham family paper is toast. This is now the paper for f*cking oligarchs. Someone needs to put it out of its misery now. If you work there, get the f*ck out now.
It took a while before he began interfering with the basic structure of the paper, but it was the long game.
First the implication that there are any sort of op-eds out there that are "opposed" to personal liberties & free markets.
Then this suggestion that they would be filling some sort of "void" with this.
So obvious.
Bezos: “No! NOT PERSONAL LIBERTIES LIKE THAT!!”
PUNISH Bezos = CANCEL Amazon Prime
Annual cost to maintain the super yacht and its support vessel is: ~$30 million
If they thinking taking over the government is a better use of their money than paying their own way.
The slave-owning class loved that word "liberty" in the 1850's. And the union busters of the reconstruction and Gilded Age sure did love to talk about "free markets."
Does that mean he is Amerikkkan? not American or some other jumble that is a passcode for some ultra tech movement we don't know about yet.
also you have to follow me back or how am i going to yell in your direction in chat. :)
It's Obvious our markets aren't free. If they were they wouldn't subsidize the rich and wealthiest individuals and corporations, while privatizing all the cost of those private actors' wars.
It's intolerable to call this free.
What a bland, frothy pile of dung especially when he and his cronies don't think they need to suffer consequences through their bad choices. Maybe he thinks he can aw shucks his way through this and other basic dignity digs and patriotism betrayals he's authored.
Such an ass.
Benjamin Franklin
The personal liberty to destroy human rights. The personal liberty to let people starve. The personal liberty to own Mars. Etc.
Ugh.
-- What I tell you it means
This sounds a lot like the freedom to not hire anyone but white, conservative men and cute 24 yr old women open to sexual advances - "personal liberties," "free markets."
Every single writer could quit today. And force his hand. The assumption is no one has the courage.

America is not a business; it has an economic system, but solely to support America’s real purpose.
I remembered the phrase, “promote the general Welfare”.
That is what America is really about.
The Introduction of the Constitution is worth re-reading and remembering.
"We the People of the United States,
It's mostly a humiliating sop to Trump, but "free markets" exclusively as understood by a guy with $230B aren't going to be great either.
