Kind of baffled by this passage. Starts off saying the funds were "wasted" on "equity projects". Then says that by equity she means making the system easier to use and more accessible, which sounds like a good thing to do. Then she says that didn't count as bad DEI.

I'm guessing the answers end any bafflement, at least as far as the "why" of such self-contradictory messaging-oriented nonsense is concerned.
This is yet another illegal impoundment
The states will sue over these funds I’m sure
Not 'equity'
The correct word, grammatically speaking, is 'Equitable'
But it makes no difference
When the problem is non English speaking people reading articles written partly in English by non English speaking people
Stick to using words of one syllable
Less stressful in the long run
That doesn't seem to have caught on (good), but I guess a worst case is where the WH is killing accessibility measures but the press describes those as DEI items
It's little more than a glorified gossip rag that trades anonymity to get axe-grinding members of Congress and DC insiders to dish on each other.
The government?
DEI has two of the same letters with "dirty".
The funds were to modernize the UI system. That has nothing to do with DEI.
MAGA have to throw DEI into every topic as some kind of bogeyman that has lived inside every (failed/wasteful) govt prgm.
They’re banking on people not connecting those dots. There’s a good chance many won’t. Not everyone fully understands the actual definition of the word to begin with :(
These people will bend over backwards insisting they don’t want to get rid civil rights while demanding our civil rights be taken away because Republicans have rebranded the term to make our loss of rights palatable to the masses.
But getting beat down each day by MOLE MAN is... trying.
This country's value was in it's integrity, however embattled. Now with that gone, we're circling the drain, folks.
Of course not. That's knowledge, the thing they fear.

In fact, I think it's going to take far longer than 4 years.
Also, they didn't actually use it for equity projects.
Also, equity projects are good.
