A big misconception about Greenland is that since it’s labeled a Danish colony, its residents are just a bunch of white dudes named Kristian—which is extremely harmful and inaccurate.
The population is 85% Indigenous! It belongs to the Kalaallit people, not to Denmark and CERTAINLY not to the U.S.

How fascinating.
Because I don't know if you know this, but....
The definition of indigenous is elastic.
Intermarriage happens a lot over 200 years.
The Times had an article about it today apparently. I refuse to pay to read it!

I know I’m not selling him very well, but would they like to take him off of our hands, please?
A big misconception? That’s a bit sad.
Very interesting!
I’d love to write more about this (hello editors). We must spell out exactly how ugly and racist this latest spurt of U.S. imperialism is, and where it came from.
Instead...
They want the oil. Then, they have to cross Canada with the oil lines. Guess why he wants Canada as well.
As I understand it, the term indigenous as applied to *people* is a 20th century pattern, designed to structure contemporaneous settler/indigenous definitions, and doesn't actually share Latin meaning.
What's the motivation here?
Partly just pointing out my understanding of terminology, and partly curious about the "yes, and...?" Of your point.
Indigenous/colonial definitely flattens narrative. Maybe there's better but I haven't seen it.
America’s best propaganda has always been seeming like a superior place to live and that’s not landing as well as it used to.
The Kalaallit people should tell Trump to take a hike.

Sorry again for. Our idiot president. I voted for Kamala Harris, but am disappointed more of us didn’t.
As should the nordics, Poland and of course Ukraine.
The US as the bastion of freedom has fallen and it’s every nation itself now. And nukes are 1940s tech. If DPRK can make em, so can Sweden.
Your call
Once it returned to the submarine that launched it.
It is a fast suicide system.
I should know; I worked on these for over 15 yrs.
And that’s all I have to say about that.
Southward Inuit migration was after Scandinavians had already arrived.
And no, Greenland will be as it ever was.
we're not out looking to expand, we have a huge area already.

gGreenland is going to experience terrible mudslides and land loss as the permafrost melts.
Also, there's significant hazardous waste sites in that melting permafrost.
And it won't become temperate, just because it's no longer frozen solid.
*And it already belongs to people*

Please don't lump us all in that bunch of crazy.
We respect others and they are embarrassing us beyond words and our leaders beyond action.
Grønland is an autonomous country, within the Danish Kingdom
Trump seems to be trying to rescind birthright citizenship of those in tribes in the US, so not surprising he wouldn't care.
But...does anyone?
I look up almost every single fact before I post because I can't trust the lump of fatty goo that is my brain anymore. And I'm still so often wrong if I don't.
Search engine degradation is kicking my ass.
Eh, MS for you.
Definitely recommend--if just to get one interested in learning more.
And we all know the the United States of America is famous for
its treatment of Indigenous People.
Greenland and Denmark should understand they are dealing
with a Madman.
Although Denmark had governed [Kalaallit Nunaat] as a colony, Danish civil servants and politicians were reluctant to see [Kalaallit Nunaat] as on a par with other colonial territories. …

I hope the US offers every Greenlander $1M. Then let them vote on whether to become Americans.
To acquire territory by making every indigenous person wealthy and to do it with their consent--that's how it should always be and has never been.
Let's do it
The US had a nuclear powered military base in Greenland during the cold war and never asked for permission from anyone.
It’s a NORAD base (Thule).
Obviously built with permission.
Spread infectious deceases, turn tribes against each other and starve the rest. Make treaties and break them. Dislocating them from their homelands.
