Don't have any physical now but I'm quite impressed by the collection you have, I love many of these games and used to have a bunch. Warcraft II is one of the first games I remember playing.
this goes so hard dude i love it. my coworker got a copy of galactic civilizations 2 physical and i so love to be there for the beginning of someone’s spiral into collecting
Owning only a handful of PC games is one of my collectors regrets. I focused too much on consoles, and got into PC gaming when the digital era just began. Having these with boxes are real treasures. Kudos.
So many memories. I used to work in computer software stores like Egghead, as well as played so many of these. 1994-2000 was such a golden era for PC Gaming. So good.
Wow, didn't know you were into FM towns! Would have guessed pc88/98 or x68k based on your love of pc engine. Any backstory to why FM towns caught your interest?
Yeah, as someone who's got a big console game collection thanks to GameStop's wanting to get rid of inventory the last two decades. Sadly never did I witness a single big box game. Swedish gaming/nerd conventions rarely have them and if they do, it's insanely expensive for like a sports title.
Not to mention that the US usually has the most beautiful versions v_v
I've had some success on local auction sites like Vinted, maybe there's something similar there?
There's also a Facebook group that has a buy/sell sub-group: Big Box PC Game Collectors
Chinese mainland and Taiwanese version 😁
Besides the Australian version these are the only big box versions I could find of the game. (Other than game collection boxes)
Sigh. I used to have a LOT of those on the shelf but somewhere between 18 and 46 they all slowly disappeared. All the Bioware and FEAR that I see there for sure. Wing Commander III, IV, Prophecy, Fallout 3. Man I feel old.
This is most of our Big Box games. Windows XP and below, a couple of Mac, DOS, Atari ST, and Amiga. The ones that aren’t facing out are Pete Townsend Presents Tommy by Interplay, Ducks Ahoy for C64, and Eye of the Beholder II.
I unfortunately don't have many of my physical boxes, and most of the ones I do have aren't easily accessible, but here's what I could get ready on short notice :)
Now THAT is a single-franchise collection! I feel like @defybydefault.bsky.social would appreciate this one much more than myself. Incredibly aesthetically pleasing shelving too!
It pains my soul I don't have room to display the entire line of Lucas Learning games (bottom section, second to the right). Jar Jar's Adventure deserves so much more.
I have been slowly working on collecting all the console Star Wars games before I even attempt to tackle all the PC games. I don't have an updated picture of my collection at all but I do have a spreadsheet lol
Not bad! I have my own super-complicated spreadsheet of every SKU of every game, but it's in a constant state of disarray. One of these days I'll finish it and make it presentable to all.
Thanks! 😀 I do think it's much more interesting to collect a franchise over collecting, say, every NES game (not that that isn't awesome in its own right!). My basic philosophy behind the collection, if you really want to get into it: https://cbake76.medium.com/my-personal-star-wars-gaming-holocron-57d86829f4a9
That's cool! I'm curious how you'd handle guest appearances, if that's even part of it. The beauty of a collection like that is you can make your own rules.
Thanks! I've rearranged it a bit since that picture was taken, but I'm out of town right now and don't have an updated photo. I'll have to post the rest of the room in its own thread at some point.
Pretty good collection. Especially the DnD games IMO. Blizzard games from this era also had the best manuals. There was more lore in those books than the games themselves.

Anyone want to be friends 😅
"Hey Sam... I mean Max."
NY far, the favorite game of my childhood.
I'm working on a community powered gamebox museum by the way: https://gamebox.museum/

And you should get a few more copies of Diablo 2, you could have the sickest LAN party.
I am also very jealous of those physical PC Ys games...
The Oath in Felghana packaging is insane; it comes with like an 8-CD soundtrack
