I am about to have to sit still for several weeks, and I would love to read an ENORMOUS FANTASY OR SCI-FI SERIES I haven't read before. Ideally something pretty recent? And possibly written by a queer person, a woman, or a POC? Lots and lots of pages are very much preferred!

Other sf - Octavia Butler has some chunky series, I’ve read Lilith’s Brood but Seed to Harvest also recced.
Fantasy - Katherine Addison’s The Goblin Emperor, which has a spinoff trilogy that just wrapped up.
Freya Marske’s Last Binding trilogy is lots of fun but as mentioned the fantasy elements are quite light, it’s basically Edwardian politics and drawing room mysteries w/magic

Enormous, by a woman: Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb
Tons of good press about the Children of Time series, I also liked the Final Architecture series. Tons of pages.
@seananmcguire.bsky.social's Every Heart a Doorway
@marthawells.com's All Systems Red @aliettedebodard.com's The Tea Master and the Detective
@amalelmohtar.com & @maxgladstone.bsky.social's This Is How You Lose the Time War
Hope this helps!
Nordic-inspired but with dragons and lots of other creatures and well written
Mary Stewart's Arthurian saga (so many pages).
Becky Chambers' Wayfarers.
(and, Ursula K. le Guin's Chronicles of Earthsea, because you never know if people have had the time to get to it!).

Aka: disregard this skeet.
Whatever it is that you have to sit still for, I wish you speedy recovery. ❤️🩹
Try her Flat Earth series of novels. Also short story collection, The Gorgon and Other Tales. Outstanding writing, interesting characters, intricate plots 🙂
Haven't read it yet, but her Great Cities duology is next on my list after I finally finish the Stone Sky. I've heard great things.
Red Rising series (Brown)
The Ruby in the Smoke series and Golden Compass series (Pullman)
The Golem and the Jinni series (Wecker)
Game of Thrones (Martin)
All are excellent on Audible
