Smart statement, kiss the ring and maybe he won't notice you. Especially if no one knows exactly how the US government will work next year. If congress isn't functional, DC more than likely will be an executive controlled city.
Just wait until the US military is deployed to US cities to hunt for US citizens to deport. Your kids maybe legal but if you're not the whole family leaves. And for elderly US citizens your Social Security and Obama care is definitely gone next year.
For some reason, federal workers are expected to carry D.C. lunch businesses, even though they’re often more productive at home, and their quality of life improves when they can skip the hours-long commutes.
I don’t see the big deal here. She has a responsibility to run the city the best she can. That’s easier if silly Trump thinks she likes him. It isn’t her job to be part of the resistance or whatever.
Pretty standard statement, not sure what people are expecting. He can make our lives he'll of he wants, so if someone needs to step up to be an obsequious piece of shit to placate him, Muriel is perfectly designed for that job.
“It’s been over 4 years since any of our episcopal churches have been tear-gassed. And I understand he will be devoted to finding the real person responsible for the pipe bombing…”
Where did this meeting take place? If DC mayor flew to palm beach whitey $1mm/sucker social club, seems relevant. If meeting was a lame ass zoom call, also relevant.
you all realize Congress controls DC’s budget, right? You realize DC has no federal representation, is not a state, right? DC residents literally living “taxation without representation”.
Ummm... does that include when he calls the police/national guard etc in to stop peaceful blue protests? And didn't he call DC city of "filth and decay"?
It's as bland as she could get it. She didn't praise him, just said she hopes to work with him.
I'll call out a collaborationist when I see it, and this ain't it. Not yet, anyway.
Judging by the nuclear meltdown in the replies, it's apparent that the people commenting have never read a standard, boilerplate political press release before.
She's an elected official, and she's trying to run her city. She'll be judged on that and not how many yassss kweens' she gets from resistance libs on social media from a statement written by some intern.
Whenever I read one of these statements, I wonder whether they're put out by the politicians' PR team as a matter of course or whether the politician is really that naively dumb.
I think this shows exactly how much she remembers. Trump can destroy DC if he wants. Congress can gut our Home Rule and make us their sandbox for every awful idea. As a DC resident, I’m planning for my civil rights being eliminated. Bowser has little choice here.
I’m starting to have this feeling that those in power across all spectrums in the US feel this may be a moment in our history where things may really change in how our country runs in perpetuity, and are getting in now. Can’t remember if that’s ever, happened, before… 🤔

That said, she desperately wants the federal workforce back in offices to salvage DC’s commercial real estate tax base.
So. Fuck her too.
These fucking losers.

What was she supposed to do, shoot him?
But we do.
Crazy!
