Aah. I see you have depleted half of my healthbar. Well prepare to face me again, but with a cool hat and this time I’m called the world eater or something
Something similar happened in a recent horror movie's "chapter" titles and I laughed out loud despite having had to watch that one guy eat those prawns.
I was struggling w/parent board @parent cooperative hired as Director of Education- they changed my title to“Head of School” then “Principal” to which a kid said, “No, you have to be a Princess-able” &when they went to change it AGAIN,I sais- don’t care! Call me grand POOH-BAH, I want to work w/kids
Exactly. Players who grew up with the earlier games were well aware of how fucked things were once he transformed. Easily one of the most chilling moments in the series imo.
Even when he shows up later, Ganon manages to steal things (unless he’s being stolen…which is rare, but still impressive). The only real beings who could get on his level were Majora, demise, and the echoes of wisdom…thing (don’t remember its name). He’s a pillar of the series for good reason.
You know how you don't really "know" a FromSoft boss until you've done it a dozen times or so? Same principle, but in reverse. She's been defeated, just not enough to really "know" the concept.
When the first phase is the title or false name of the boss, and the second phase is their real ass name (bonus points if they are a childhood friend of the protagonist or something)
It is so weird that Ganondorf has it backwards. Start by fighting Ganondorf, Gerudo king and consummate tennis player. Move on to fight Ganon, pig monster.
It's like how in a lot of Soulslike games the bosses are all these increasingly massive monstrosities, and then the final boss is just ... a guy. You get your expectations so high that the sudden simplicity is jarring.
That was a genuine “OH SHIT” moment in Ocarina of Time. So intimidating with the music and lightning flashing behind him. You knew this was *the* final battle.

At the end, Ganondorf is titled as "Great King of Evil."
But when he transforms using the power of the triforce, he becomes... "Ganon." Nothing else needed.
