What's "funny" is many companies (particularly tech) had widespread & uncontroversial adoptions of pronouns in email signatures because their immigrant workers with "ethnic" first names were getting misgendered so much & their white co-workers felt really bad about it.
It'd look weird & othering if only the, say, Indian workers were asked to put pronouns in their signature and Sam, Kris, K.C. & *insert 80s/90s names here* didn't want to be misgendered either, so hey, we'll all do it & then no one will feel like an ahole!

No he's descended from English speaking South Africans. For what it's worth, the Afrikaners I knew were tough, religious and conservative but also had extremely high standards for their own actions and comportment. I don't think any of them would've turned out like he did.
