Have started the first reading assignments for Torts. It’s going super. Cuz I already want to drop out of law school, fill my pockets with stones, and walk into the dark deep ocean.

You can do it, Patrick!
Hang in there.
Thank you for inspiring this fellow GenXer to return to school for a career change. I was accepted today to study archaeology, a lifelong dream.
I'm in Psychology, but one class is kicking my ass. Interpersonal Communication and the so many assignments he is giving us. Thankfully, I love Psyche so I'm putting up with it. Hang in there. It will all be worth it in the end! Good luck to you this semester!
IL is hard. Everyone is feeling it even if it doesn’t look like it. One problem with online law school is you might not have someone to whinge with in person. Is there someone else in Savannah in your class? Having a commiseration buddy got me through first year. Promise it gets better from here.
Had I listened to that internal voice in 1L, my life would have been immeasurably better. Because if you think Torts suck in law school, I assure you they suck more IRL because … managing partners, clients, judges, etc. Sorry, dude.
Where did you start? Eggshell plaintiffs or intentional torts usually work better (may skip int’l torts if you had crim law in fall)
The edited casebook cases often make no sense, can help to read the case w westlaw (and head notes)
the key is to suspend all normal thought and embrace it entirely. it doesn't necessarily get easier but it becomes familiar, like a limp you have had for years. do the work, put in the time, study for the bar, pass the bar, and then all this will seem quaint and nostalgic some day.
Well, then, you're doing it right. 😉
Torts can be really fun actually. I also had a great professor who made us laugh, but they really are a lot of funny weird scenarios in tort law that you will enjoy I promise. Hang in there.
But an hour after you dropped out, you’d remember why you started and that you’ve knocked out the first term. And that the time will pass whether you do it or not. Try to change things up, instead of silent reading, read out loud to BK so the part of your brain thinking stones is otherwise engaged.
First reading assignment? Dude!Take it one day at a time and do your best. It’s awesomely fun to be a lawyer. Eventually, you will know the LAW! And that’s so useful! Plus it’s fun to understand exactly how shitty Trump’s lawyers are. Knowing the law really kicks ass 🤩
Back in the stone ages when I went to law school, the first torts case in the textbook came accompanied by a groovy photo of a dude sitting behind the wheel of his car—with a tree branch through his temple.
Remember the case where the boat sank and all the sheep on board died? The question was who had to pay but I felt terrible for the sheep. . . as any normal person would have.
My advice for law school classes that require participation. Know one case really well and volunteer to discuss it. You look so remarkably prepared, and the prof is shocked at not having to cold call. If someone else is picked, jump in with a comment. It works!

You'll be OK, one assignment at a time! 😽

I suspect you’ve got this.

*writer might of engaged in hyperbole here.
Also law school sucksssssss.
I now spend my days in front of a computer drafting contracts.
Law school pedagogy isn’t really geared towards teaching practical skills to future lawyers, let alone future transactional lawyers.
