Tell the maga to show proof of DEI being discriminatory. I’ll wait … at least Apple Costco and MS didn’t kowtow to this bullshit. They are a bunch of scammers and don’t give a shit about our nation.
The cynical side of me is sure it has nothing to do with large, greedy, inhumane corporations taking the opportunity to try to humanize themselves for optics.
Corporations don’t bother with DEI programs out of the goodness of their hearts, it’s a fact that a diverse workforce gives the company an edge on productivity and profits. That’s Business School 101
I work for a large financial firm that has a robust DEI program. It’s had a positive impact on my career and relationship with my colleagues and I’m an older, cisgender, white male. If the public actually understood what participating in a DEI program actually entailed, they would be pro-DEI.
So true but because MAGA thinks it’s just for Black and Brown people they actually believe it won’t affect them! Especially YT women Smdh !
Can’t make this stuff up. #votedaginstyourself #Fafo season is coming soon.
They all think they're part of the club until they find out the hard way they are not. Are you a billioniare who he can profit from? If the answer is no, then you're not in the club. Simple
I was asking HOW MAGA ends up being racist, because I know it’s racist and I want to know what happened up to that point.
This also affects me as a brown, and it’s even more puzzling because there’s a brown dude with technocrat Fuhrer in the White House.
This country was built on racism, slavery & the exploitation of labor.
The world changed & they didn't change with it, so they came up with a stupid ass plan to try & destroy the government so that cis-hetero white men can reclaim their spot at the top which they never deserved in the first place.
I, too, am a OCWM who gets to hear from other OCWMs about their supposed discrimination and the guys who complain the most are just bad at their job. Proud of being "old-school" who have others picking up their slack whose parallel calls of age discrimination probably have kept them employed.
IKR? @bloomberg.com
attempting to establish a false narrative for Wall St., in order to make it appear as if they give a sh*t about those who will be affected by this. The next four will long, difficult, and paved with mountains more BS than we've seen thus far. Hip waders ready! 🙄😉
I view it a little differently. DEI requires sometimes skipping over technically more qualified candidates over other still qualified candidates. Companies realize technical qualifications are not everthing in hiring. "DEI hires" bring other views to the table. These other views are golden.
My use of that term in quotes was meant to describe a person who some people believe should not have been hired because someone else technically looks better on paper. Once candidates have demonstrated competence, that is all that is required.
This platform makes explaining complex issues difficult
I disagree.
It just means expanding the candidate pool to include a representation of the local community / hiring the best candidates from that.
DEI has nothing to do with hiring someone based on their race, gender, religion, etc. Those are "quotas", which are very illegal.
I understand the distinction you seek to make, and very much your respectful approach. I believe DEI goes beyond just the candidate pool. It is a start. I believe sometimes managers should hire in order to address organizational weaknesses. Hiring qualified applicants with diverse backgrounds helps.
Correct, the most stringent affirmative action laws required only that your interview pool match the demographic make-up of qualified applicants. Never has there been any law or mandate that you must hire a certain proportion of minority employees or meet any quota.
Many companies have voluntary DEI initiatives to improve diversity because it’s good for business and morale and they end up finding MORE qualified applicants that they may not have interviewed before.
I designed DEI courses for execs who had the sense to realize it gave them a business and competitive advantage. It was about green (as in money) not any other color.
People can complain about DEI all they want but inclusion involves the disabled, less disadvantaged in society, equal pay for women, etc because historically, inequality has been a problem for so long and there's still discrimination in a lot of industries today. It's a male dominated world.
Good question. The National Archives and our legislators. Trump is adhering to Project 2025. Have you read it? Like a study guide that you can follow along with Trump and his current cronies. US is in for a world of hurt. Red states are passing similar laws to fall in line with Trumpika. Resist.
Wait, are we talking about the #ERA or #Project2025 ?
I wish media would cover #ERA but can’t force them. National Archives never seeks publicity AFAIK, and legislators have no upside in it now.
Absolutely agree, #Project2025 is a guide to things Trump is doing & will try to do.
Yes it does in a sense. Moreover it is gender equality. It is also for equal treatment with no discrimination irregardless of physical, sexual or psychological identification. Trump can declare two genders all he wants. We will all be equal under the law.
Diversity is great and should be in place, but I also see the value of “hiring the best fit for the role”. To me it’s wild that diversity hires have continued as business is usually “do what’s best for the business” which hiring the best fit would fit under.
Many companies still value diversity:
Apple, Costco, American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Nike, Starbucks, Best Buy, Bank of America, Citi, Dell Technologies, Progressive Insurance, TIAA, PayPal, Edgewell Personal Care, Salesforce...
There are more companies holding strong on DEI than could possibly be listed.
Microsoft probably needs to be watched closely, as they have indicated both that their DEI programs are no longer considered "business critical" while simultaneously asserting that their commitment to DEI is "unchanged".
My employer, the fifth largest managed healthcare provider in the country, sent their monthly message from their Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging chief this morning as they have for most of a decade now.
But this morning, it shattered my impermeable cynicism and lit a cold flame of pride!
I bet there's a hell of ALOT of White Women who help run these banks👌🏿 bc White Women are the #1 beneficiaries of DEI initiatives✅ this is why I don't understand why the majority of White Women are silent on these attacks🤷🏿♀️ I guess they believe these attacks are only going to hurt us🤷🏿♀️
I try to tell people this all the time! Like hi hello, this is very possibly why you have a job. Cutting off their nose to spite their own face. It’s so frustrating
Yes, white females have benefitted from DEI initiatives more than anyone on the planet. They occupy senior leadership roles and are scattered across America with few, if any men or women of color.
They're massive banks worth billions. There's no "pushing back," just don't play the idiot game. Pretty easy, I'd say. Oh...and fuck JP Morgan AND Goldman...ya know, just in genaral. But...good for them? 🤷♂️🤦
Ok...ya know what, I actually take some of that back. I mean, credit where credit is due, right? Yes, generally they still suck, but...seriously, bravo to these bank peeps for seeing the validity of being as inclusive as possible. It sets an example to not ignore consumer buying influence.
It’s imperative that the wealthy comprehend that a broad successful productive middle class is best for all. History objectively reveals having a wealthy 1% stating “let them eat cake” always ends in tragically for all.
"If it wasn't for them Black doctors, and the ability to read, count, see all people as human, my missing 28 teeth, inbreeding, my criminal record and the fact that I'm a bigoted piece of shit...."
Seriously! I had to - fight is too big a word - strongly recommend hiring and paying more to women and/or POC who were qualified for the position instead of a white male who won the sympathy of managers by association, and some choices would not only be unfair but lead to $ loss. Wtf, "meritocracy"?
Thank you. They really think in their delusional minds that they can skip training and preparation and be appointed to any role. The fire discourse gave me an idea for a reality show lol
What can you do to about companies dropping DEI policies? Use your wallet!
- Getting a new car? Only buy from a minority employee.
- Buying new carpet? Use a minority-owned company.
- Research products & companies BEFORE you buy from them.
Seek out minorities for EVERY purchase moving forward!
Look at stocks, they shot up today, I wouldn't be dumb enuf to invest in crypto. Everything I read is about Trump dues this ,& that so it's back up like 2016. Ridiculous everything goes up or down by president. Yet US steel Trump not helping 🤔
That is because they know the importance of their diversity initiatives. Diversity brings greater ideas to maximize investment potentials to the table. Great job JP and Goldman!!!!!

I was very impressed when I went to a Goldman Sachs presentation. One of the speakers was an employee who was 100% deaf. He was provided with a sign language interpreter for Q&A. I was told provided for in all meetings. He did great work for Goldman Sachs. I'm glad they pushing back.
Yes they better push back!...because JP Morgan (like so much in this 'country' wouldn't be what it is without a Black woman: Belle de Costa Greene ... learn the history they don't want us to know ✊🏽
Respect. I am sure the pharma industry will follow. Diversity is a strength ... Casting people nets wide provides a better talent pool ... That is just good business
Am I correct in recalling that JP Morgan received $15 billion & Goldman Sacha $13 billion, in bailouts in 2008?
I wonder what that’s worth in 2025 dollars?
Reminder that the defense industry was doing DEI back in the Bush administration, it really is mostly good business sense, aside from paying grifters like Ibram X. Kendi
The US Federal government has very limited powers to tell people how to run their businesses and from my own experience I have found DEI is good business.
The GOP is no longer a political party. It's a Nazi movement that started at the highest level - President Elon and the JR. VP Orange Hitler. His aid JD Vance has been put in the witness protection program and can no longer speak or appear in public.
Lawyers generally don't leave cases that are gone to generate lots of billing hours. If I was a lawyer in such cases I would be lining up to defend this, basically enough future work to retire
Only available to "demonstrably fit Aryans," was approx 20% of an industrial workers earnings (not much), mother can't work between receiving the loan and repayment... This is worse compensation than Canadian Maternity Leave, which doesn't even need to be repaid... https://ideas.repec.org/a/bpj/jbwige/v63y2022i1p267-301n4.html
Credit union always! Just left chase for a credit union & couldn’t be happier. I get dividends in my account every month that compound on top of eachother now. They are basically paying me an extra $40+ a month to bank with them! Meanwhile with chase I was getting like 5 cents a month in interest.
They are still corrupt as f*ck. Maybe they pay their so-called DEI hires less than an H1B visa person so ya of course they want to keep that cheap DEI labor. 🤬
who cares. DEI hiring is not actually a liberal fight. Right wingers are just trying to make it our fight because they don't want price gouging, crazy interest rates, foreclosures, and the other long list of straight up theft by banks to be our fight.
Thank goodness for some sanity! Whatever you call it, diversity is good for business and other organization. Whether the nation is like it, we are a diverse nation. Common sense says all must be included, even South African idiot geniuses.
It started with federal workers. Now, he will come after the private and non-profit sector to do the same. Make it easy to get rid of people of color and women in leadership positions or who hold high salary positions.
10 years ago you didn’t see many black quarterbacks or coaches in the NFL and guess what? It turns out opening minds to a full field of candidates yields excellent results. White men are just mad they have to compete with everyone and not just each other.
And with good reason: good luck proving someone was “just a DEI hire” - the employment law firms should be salivating at the prospect of so many lawsuits if this is tried in the private sector
Sure they can say that to cover their ass, but we all know that now they will be off the hook next time they get slammed with a discrimination lawsuit.
I feel like there is a lot of confusion over the concept of diversity - and the objectives of diversity and inclusion initiatives. Have that many people bought into the scare-tactive narrative that the LGBTQ community, women, and people of color have coalesced to steal opportunities?
This whole getting rid of dei is really opening up a market for well off / college educated dem base to pump money into companies that prioritize dei. Companies are going to catch on when their bottom dollar is hit
Bingo and will all start rehiring. Companies who remove dei should lose customers as well. I’m not supporting any company who removes it if I can help it. I have like 10 plus Apple products in my house.. I won’t buy anymore.
They have to know that they're already going to lose a lot of good people with their push to return to office 5 days a week. Only keeping people who would stay through that and a reduction of DEI efforts would not leave them with ethical employees, which would be bad for a bank.
