Before it grounded one of my country's super scooper water bombers. Who cares if that happens and more homes are possibly lost - just look at the views we get to see!!
Yes, I know it wasn't this drone, but the point is... 🙄😒
Yes it does. But we need those fucking drones to stay out of the sky so the REAL pilots can safely fly and drop water without running into someone looking to make a buck from this god damn tragedy!
Why do they keep calling this "the largest devastation by wildfire in S. California?" Isn't this the largest in the country's history? Have I missed a wildfire that has caused more destruction? I can only think of the Chicago fire in 1871. This fire started in a hay barn, but every fire starts somew
While the Palisades fire may ultimately end up being the most costly fire given the price of homes being destroyed, let’s hope it doesn’t surpass the Camp Fire which destroyed 18,000 homes in Paradise or the Lahaina fire which killed over a hundred people.
Its would be great if there was a tally of all homes left standing to investigate and inventory what they all had in common. Red tile roofs? House built of brick or stucco? Outdoor/indoor watering system? No trees/bushes/grass? Then pass on that information to those who rebuild.
Drones, especially small private drones are helpful in fighting fires. but always call ahead to air traffic control authorities and prevent needless danger of collision.
Stop rewarding people who are illegally flying drones and hampering the response efforts!
Don’t reward these fuckers by sharing their footage. They’re the reason one of two Canadian super scooper planes, which are so desperately needed right now, is grounded!
I seriously doubt the Palisades is no longer an active fire area, but even if you’re right, it certainly was yesterday afternoon when a drone collided with the Canadian plane (and when this footage was shot)
The thing about global warming is that I almost never worry about nuclear bombs anymore. My childhood was filled with fear of them. I don’t worry about fallout now. I worry about carbon and less oxygen.
What will it take to get the other half to accept that climate change is real? We're watching our planet die in real time, and still it's being denied. I live in FL- 2
Hurricanes within a few weeks of one another. People lost everything & but by God the maga flags were out & up, roofs be damned
They will deny it to the bitter end. Today, Atlanta and northern Georgia- snowing. I counted many posts by people laughing about global warming because it's snowing. People who lost their homes in NC are on TikTok, still denying climate change.
No drones are authorized by the FAA in the fire-related TFR unless the operator is working directly with emergency agencies. Do not encourage unauthorized activity. A firefighting aircraft has already been damaged by a drone, and is now grounded. Pilots don’t need another thing to worry about
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) enforces strict regulations against unauthorized drone operations that interfere with emergency response efforts. Violations can result in civil penalties of up to $20,000 per incident. Additionally, criminal charges may apply, including prison.
Never said I knew US laws around drones, but the authorities have said they haven’t authorized any drone flights in the area. If this area is not included in what their statement covered, alright.
TFR's are very specific; they may cover large areas or very limited areas. And the "T" indicates Temporary, for limited times and/or events. The point is, just because a drone is flying over LA, and TFR's are applied around LA, doesn't mean all drone flights are prohibited everywhere, all the time.
A good analogy is Kennedy Space Center. TFR's prohibit plane & drone flights in certain areas around rocket launch plans. But not all videos of KSC happen during those times.
Wow. A water scoop plane was damaged by a drone. I appreciate the value of visual images, but drones are counterproductive to the aerial goal of putting out fires.
Here is what bothers me. A tornado can cut through tornado alley destroying everything in its path. No one blames the givernor of whatever state, it is not celebrated, rightfully. But these "Christian Patriots" are celebrating California burning. Just pathetic.
Frankly I’m kind of surprised “Christian” comments haven’t pointed to Pacific Palisades as a largely Jewish community. Not that I’ve been hunting for those kinds of comments.
A synogague was destroyed and an asshat on X replied something along the lines of ' at least something good came from it'. There have been others a well.
If they are faketriots you should share whatever real patriots we have because i know there’s military still on the side of fuck fascism and fuck trump. What I think we should do is keep sharing those people so they see yes even military doesn’t back that deranged lunatic.
I’m just saying we should start showing these trumpies that we have veterans even that don’t buy into their cult bs and we should share those that we find that are veterans because maybe they’ll listen to them because “military bias” with some people.
I see what you're saying. I think not telling them could work better. Do not reveal your hand too early. When I use the term patriots in quotes, it is a short way of saying lying, no good, MAGAts.
Ya I just call them faketriots as a real patriot are the ones currently not indulged in maga stance they are the true protect and serve veterans that I appreciate not the “faketriots” I’m surprised that term faded away even oddly seaming as it fits magas brand pretty well
Could be somebody who took the bashing of California seriously. A man blew up a Cyber truck to make a point. Another one drove through Bourbon Street. A dude shot Gabby Giffords because he thought Sarah Palin sent a message. People do crazy shit.
This worries me. We have to work together if we are going to get through devastating natural disasters, which are occurring more often with climate change.
If Trump does notbhelp blue states, like California, I would be the first to sign a petition to not pay money to red states. Would rather donate to worthy groups than help red state governments
No but it is supposed to lower costs (price gouging) and require insurance companies to offer it. Imagine, insurance companies taking money and providing a service...how novel of an idea huh?
Yes! Just today I was thinking about State Farm insurance and the fact they dropped insurers in California; however, several years ago my mom bought or invested in a CD with them. So at least then they were dealing in financial products, but the hell with people who paid in for years.
I was wondering the same. This is still a no-fly zone. There should not be any drone footage yet. Even the news reporters are saying they are not allowed in with their drones yet
This FEMA page says “Wildfire Insurance - Review your homeowners or renters insurance policy” but lower down says “In California, the California FAIR Plan covers residential and commercial properties located in brush and wildfire areas”
The FAIR Plan is not a state agency or public entity. There’s no public or taxpayer funding. It’s an insurance pool that issues policies on behalf of member companies—which participate in the profits, losses, and expenses in direct proportion to their market share.
Peabrains! No neurones at all, and even less humanity! Lady Karma chases those types, and gets them eventually, so that they eventually learn what it's like to experience such tragedy.
Does that not piss you right off two water bombers grounded with damages because some fuktards had to put drones. At least we are not having to send condolences to the families of the crews
Others have said this but I’ll add, take this down. A drone damaged the wing if a fire-fighting plane. Reposting this is rewarding those that fly drones in areas they should not be in!
Why, in the shadow of these unprecedented wildfires, and an incoming president whose motto is “drill baby drill”, is climate change not getting a mention!?!?
Look like Bakhmut, or Toretks or Neu York, or Mariinka, or Sieverdonetsk or Lysychansk, or Robotyne, or Verbove, or Orikhiv, Polohy, or Rivnopil, or Vuhledar, or Soledar, or Novomykhalivka or Nevelske, or the Fortress city of Avdiivka...
Or any other hundreds of towns, villages and cities in Ukraine
This drone footage needs to be taken down. The FAA has restricted the airspace to all drones. In addition a scooper aircraft has been grounded because it collided with a drone and damaged its wing. One less tool to fight the fires because of stupidity.
Seeing footage like this and hearing that 1,000 or 5,000 structures were destroyed... it just seems like so much more. Thank god it's not. The scale of devastation is just unimaginable.
In 10 days, they're really going to miss Joe Biden and feel the full effects of the misogynoir that kept VP Harris from leading the nation. It's so very sad and angering.
I have a dear friend in Pasadena who lost everything. They got out with their 3 pets, but everything left behind is gone. She said FEMA is on the ground and helping people fill out paperwork for help.
I’ll say this, I hope they don’t allow those houses on the cliffs to rebuild. They are ecological nightmares. Plant trees, allow nature to take it back.
they talk shit that “if only they vacuumed the floor this would have been prevented” This is the reality of climate change. With 100 mph winds turning palm trees into sparkler machine guns, it’s not about pruning shrubbery. Just like deSantis can’t stop hurricanes from battering Florida. Maga sucks!
It sickens and horrifies me that a tragedy like this is being politicized rather than a moment of reflection to collectively find ways of prevention, mitigation, and rebuilding.
Similar to what we saw happen when the pandemic hit. 😔💔
Apparently one of those drones blew a hole in the wings of one of the water planes and now it’s grounded, which means it’s not available to help contain the fire
“nothing can destroy like nature" - humans can cause significant destruction, the sheer power and resilience of natural forces like fire, hurricanes, or volcanic eruptions can unleash devastation on a scale that often surpasses anything humans can create, highlighting the immense power of nature.
Charlie the Cnut Kirk is blaming the disaster on lesbians, lack of white firefighters and voting Democrat. What a fkn knob polisher (no wonder Don Jr looked loved-up in Greenland)
Devastating California wildfires from above. The first satellite images of the devastating 2025 California wildfires have been released by Maxar and the likings. The situation is not under control, so unfortunately we will see much more devastation in days and possibly weeks to come.
It was just now o'clock that I learned that CalFire has its own police officers -- about 300 of them -- all of whom are firefighters who made it up to the rank of captain
They do investigations, education, and patrol work
How come with all the technology available, and the ability to go to deep space, they can not create rain to douse these fires, or pump water from the sea nearby, where it is in limitless supply? I saw seaside houses burn to the ground, with water right there. Incomprehensible!
Are these hobbyist drone pilots? I would love to know that we’re not rewarding the behavior that led to us putting a water bomber out of commission by liking this kind of footage. And honestly if BlueSky is the responsible platform…risky drone footage should be getting flagged.
A lot of these ppl who have lost everything are wealthy, educated and have influence. What the World is witnessing is not normal. These ppl must go as a group to Washington, meet with Trump and demand action on Climate Change. Remember Australia '19-'20.
"Es hat ja schon immer mal so Katastrophenfeuer gegeben"
"London ist ja auch schon mal abgebrannt...und Rom!"
"Trump sagt, der Gouverneur von Kalifornien ist schuld!"
That’s not normal, it’s like a hurricane inferno ripped through it. Wouldn’t roads acts as a firebreak? I can understand a fire tearing through a regional town with lots of dry bush, but it usually slows down once it hit a residential built up area. Horrifying😱
That's my question also. One of the drones hit a wing. It was taken out of commission and it was only one of two water carriers. One illegal drone knocked out 50% of the water carriers
A drone punctured the wing of one of the two planes flying fire retardant and now it's grounded. I don't want to see any drone footage from these folks. They shouldn't be up in the sky rn.
Haunting. Reminds me of Hawaii. We will see more in the future, which is why we desperately need to halt fossil fuel burning significantly. We will pay the price in lives, the planet, and everything else -- especially our children & grandchildren.
Nobody should be flying drones over any of the fire areas. The fires are all still active. A drone collision over the Palisades damaged a dipper aircraft in the last 24 hours. Creating this footage endangers the lives of firefighting pilots, full stop, and can ground air support entirely.
No doubt useful images for would be looters as well. Put the drones down. If I’m on site checking damage to my neighbourhood, I’d resent the sound of drones surveying the scenes. Show respect.
Looters? What the actual f*ck are you talking about? There's nothing but rubble.
I respect that there is plenty of evidence of the disaster to support insurance claims. Get your head out of your A-double-squiggle.
1. What is the date stamp for the image? It proves nothing without it.
2. Even if the no-fly zone is still in effect, where is your evidence that this particular survey flight was not permitted?
Note the lack of flames and fire-fighting activities in this drone footage.
No, we should be doing things that are _effective_.
Authorized drone surveys of an area outside active firefighting zones will not ground any firefighting aircraft.
Probably the same idiot that will soon be going to a jail for taking it when drones are restricted from flying and caused a problem for a fire fighting plane.. Sorry our need to know doesn’t take precedent over the firefighters lives…🤦♀️
Can't help noticing the odd house or two surviving in the midst of devastating 360⁰ destruction.
How is that possible?
Heroic homeowner with a garden hose?
:€ ?
We have no idea if this is 'unofficial' or not. Let's not jump to any conclusions, please.
(There are clearly no firefighters, fires, or planes in any area of the video.)

The FAA has a good track record of rounding these guys up.
I didn't read any of the TFR's. Do we know if this flight was a violation?

Just a side note who's gonna do most of the rebuilding? Our wonderful migrant community that Trump wants to deport 😔

We need to take the climate emergency much more seriously, or nature will take back even more from us.
I agree the video is amazing but drones risk Fire Fighter’s lives.
