I worked as an election worker for the first time this year. There were so many others who signed up for the first time in our area that they barely had room for all of us. Even with the results, I'm still glad I did and plan to again in future years.
I did it, but it was not scary or hard. I think everyone should try it once. Obviously some states and precincts are worse than others, but I had a great time and everyone was kind and did their job.
I am an atheist, I don't believe in god. But if I did, you would be the god I would believe in. Whomever you are, I really enjoy your posts. Too bad the real made up god (maybe it's Spiderman? They both are equally as real) doesn't get it.
Don't forget the mailman who worked through 2020 and 2024 who deserve the fucking Medal of Honor for their service to every piece of shit who threatened their mailman for "not having their mail when they expected it."
Fuck Trump, Fuck DeJoy, Fuck anyone who helped fuck the system over. And mgmt, too
About that Democracy...Elon Musk murdered it in full view. It stopped limping along November 5th 2024 when Elon was allowed to buy millions of swing-state votes for $47-$100 each & an entry into an illegal lottery that paid out $1 million per day.
Can you imagine George Soros getting away with that?
The US has a problem with rich people committing huge, awful crimes at such a pace that the system canβt even start to process it. Elonβs lottery was illegal but there wasnβt anyone ready and able to do anything about it.
Love it! Election workers: the unsung heroes who hold democracy togetherβone ballot at a timeβdespite the chaos, death threats, and unrelenting intimidation. Someone let Time Magazine know that God has a different opinion π
Your definition of "person of the year" is clearly not in the same realm as Time's, who must be sick of explaining how their award doesn't mean what the other 8 billion of us think it means.
I am profoundly disappointed in their final choice. That man is a self serving con artist who is a twice impeached, convicted felon rapist who belongs in βthe big houseβ rather than the Whitehouse. But thatβs my take. There were so many stand out potential candidates who made
"The joke" is on you (and all of us) because they just give the cover to the most notorious person of the year - there's no merit in it. Although... try telling Trump that there's no merit in it.
As somebody who's worked the polls for over 20 years, I appreciate it. I'm over 50 and I am one of the youngsters working, we really got to get the youth involved in their government. I wish I would've done more in my 20s!
Call the courthouse in your county seat, they will connect you to the election commissioner and they will put you in contact with your party's election coordinator. (Around the nation it is required that you have been a member of the party w/ which you are currently affiliated for over a year). π
Call your local countyβs elections board. Call more than once if they donβt immediately take your information and tell you theyβll get back to you. Call them again a month before your local primary next spring. They may not be well-organized, but theyβll be very grateful to hear from you.
Thank you! No violence at my polling place, but I had to see a guy in a giant ugly t-shirt disrespecting your son: "Jesus is my Lord and Trump in my President!" (particularly attractive in a majority-Jewish precinct)
Thanks, God! Being a poll worker on Election Day in my state generally means a 16 hr day. Itβs the least I can do for democracy and the country I love so much but am mightily embarrassed by at the moment. Every election denier should go work the polls and THEN tell me how itβs βriggedβ.π
Thank you. I totally agree and I think I did lose my sanity as I watched parents bring in their young children as they voted away their rights. It was disheartening to say the least.
While they would be worthy of any and all awards, Time's Person Of The Year goes to the one who "for better or for worse ... has done the most to influence the events of the year". - No Contest!
My husband is an attorney and volunteers every year as a poll watcherβ¦itβs a 15-hour+ shift, starting at 6 am to well after 9 pm to witness the counting of the ballots and reconcile the paperwork.
Thank you God. I worked a poll helping college students vote for the first time. Colleagues at another polling location worked past midnight to allow everyone to vote who was in line, our City Clerk worked over 24 hours. A lot of heros out there!
I worked the provincial election here in BC, π¨π¦ but the worst thing that happened was someone wore a f*ck Trudeau hat π€·ββοΈ
Definitely no bomb threats or aggression; people just wanted to vote & go β€οΈβπ₯
During the election I was televised on YouTube as I took out and brought back the drop boxes and brought back voting machine fobs - Our County Clerk televised the whole process to make it transparent.
Went to my polling place and said, "I heard you were giving away stickers?" and the worker giggled at me and told me I had to vote or I didn't GET one.
I suffered worse than Nancy Mace. But I will survive, as I always do.
as a poll worker in, i say thank you. i believe someone must bear witness. as i watched hundreds of red (magat hats on each head) ballots be inserted into the box, i felt like the man in Cask of Amontiado. Dying one fucking brick at a time.
My brother who was a poll worker in a trumpy area of NY said that several times throughout the day he had to fix spoiled ballots by voters who had attempted to cast 2 votes for trump--1 on the Republican line & 1 on the Conservative line. Our poll workers are truly on the front lines.
Long ago when I worked for elections our director got death threats from a lone unbalanced politician. Now it seems we have a whole mob of wingnuts and a party that cultivates it. Not the Rs I knew for sure.
I know smiting is a last resort, but I may be praying for your consideration. π
We still have a democracy. We will only lose it if we give up.
Everyone can do something, and when that something is part of a bigger plan, we are even more powerful.

The most underemphasized story of 2024 was all of the bomb threats on Election Day that occurred ONLY IN DEMOCRATIC VOTING PLACES to help Donald Trump win. Seems like a pretty big deal, but everyone forgot about it by Nov 6th.
Thank you. Iβve been doing this for over a decade now and I love it. Itβs exhilarating and exhausting but itβs a wonderful experience. I make a big deal over first-time voters and theyβre always pleased. Voting is a privilege and a duty.
Thank you... I did my part ,2 hours training,15 hour day for $300 while watching people vote for a convicted felon, rapist, twice impeached, serial liar, and narcissist.
America what a country...
Thank you. Itβs a small part Iβve been filling for 20 years. Every person Iβve worked with at our local polling place is sincerely committed to fair elections and making sure everyone who is qualified gets to vote.
Thank you. That was a rough day. The last person in line at 7pm took 3 hrs to get to vote. But i knew things were going bad when i saw young, latina women wearing t**** merch. Saw one w/ her young daughters, all dressed up, wearing t**** buttons. I honestly wanted to call CPS. It was insanity.
My person of the year is Joe Biden who stepped back to allow a new generation to step up. We owe him more than just gratitude for rescuing this nation, we owe him a huge apology for undermining his agenda.
President Biden is also my person of the year and century. He tried and accomplished so much with so many obstacles specifically for the American people. Even when they didn't appreciate him or the things he did. I'll miss him every day.

Maybe you should get a promotion or something??!! :-)

Can you imagine George Soros getting away with that?
Or even willing.
Because you seem to be torturing your people of the year like Sisyphus?
The *Best* person of the yearβ¦
Never forget:
Hitler appeared on the cover of TIME on multiple occasions β most famously perhaps on Jan. 2, 1939, when he was named Man of the Year.

Thanks for the effort anyway.
Thanks.
... better.... worse... No contest there either!
1. Voting fraud rarely happens and never works. Too many checks and balances.
2. Working a 16 hr day sucks. And whomever convinced us to vote in-person and on one day was/is an as*hole.
Mad respectπ«‘

Lots of countries outside the 50 states (plus territories) with elections at roughly the same time.
During the election I was televised on YouTube as I took out and brought back the drop boxes and brought back voting machine fobs - Our County Clerk televised the whole process to make it transparent.
I suffered worse than Nancy Mace. But I will survive, as I always do.
The American people
who didnβt vote failed.
The American people
who voted for the convicted criminal failed.
