My sons are mid 30's. One is a P.G. (geologist) and the other an attorney. I have never heard either one of them complain about DEI ever..The attorney reports to a woman partner. She brings the most money into the law firm.
Many people in favor of eliminating DEI presumably are saying they're in favor of the "old boy" system of old, where so-called merit is solely at the discretion of old, white, male bosses in who they cherry pick.
Fellow HR Exec here. Absolutely. Luckily for me, the white men I’ve worked with haven’t been necessarily incompetent, but definitely not more competent than other candidates. And as we all know, diversity in all its forms is better for organizations as well as personal growth.
I wonder if there will be outrage when Trump supporters figure out the I in DEI stands for Inclusion. The Inclusion programs helped disabled Kids and adults be productive members of the community. These are truely people that need the help the most.

I was under the impression that federal employees with disabilities are protected by other laws that do not relate to DEI. In other words, the government has to provide "accessibility" services to disabled employees who request it.
And a whole bunch of people who were told "they couldn't be hired because of a quota" where actually just passed on by racist managers who wanted an excuse to not have to tell someone they weren't qualified for the job.

DEI isn’t a policy per-se, but an idea to try and hire more people of different backgrounds, more like an affirmative action policy on steroids if you will. Looking at more than just the typical white pool of talent. That is my take on what it was supposed to be.

As an old hs counselor in a minority-majority high school. Nothing I said could get through the years of being told the hate speeches by parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles all that came north and has still never forgotten that they are better than the black man.
In my career my observation was that DEI gave opportunities to minority candidates similar to those that wealthy candidates receive due to family connections. Once onboard they must both perform. Often the DEI candidate works harder and therefore turns out to be the better hire.
Capitalism is holding people's careers back if anything. Companies don't wanna pay a decent wage and expect us to not be homeless somehow, then blame us for their failures. Skyrocketing prices and wages that don't increase, what could possibly go wrong?

I work for a company that overlooked a POC who had 10yrs under their belt, knew everything about all departments, did so much for them, but instead, they put someone with zero experience and 1yr of working for the company as a manager, because he was white, they don’t even hide it.
