Impossible to convey all the pleasures of this marvellous book in one post. Enough to say that one of the least of its glories is that it spends almost two pages tracing the affinities between Satie and Les Dawson.

Ian kicked on, that's what I like about him. He left all the stylistic trappings of NME days behind him and evolved as a writer. Unlike Morley who seemed to remain content to just throw shapes without fear of being edited.
I noticed he was only ever on X briefly first thing in the morning towards the grim last days before we all decamped, but yes somebody give him a shout and get him over here.
