Finally getting around to watching The Apprentice (the movie) and fifteen minutes in it’s already stressing me out. Switching back to Love is Blind Habibi

* CALL * your Senators (list below) and ask them to go forward with an amnesty-for-Trump law. It will fail. It will show that neither 2/3 of the Senate nor 2/3 of the House want him to be president after having been an insurrectionist. https://www.senate.gov/senators/ #bluecrew #resist #notmypresident
it was horrid.Especially the brutal rape of his wife.
and considering he buried his ex in some obscure part of his golf course with no marker & no caretakers. And how did she actually die? what's in the coffin?
Melanie probably has worries. It's probably why she stays with him . FEAR.
Trump is a lowlife person, remember people with low self-esteem are always looking for high praise. Look at all these billionaires. They were all nerds and they’re all looking for high praise. It’s hilarious it’s happening in real life it’s just like high school.
It explains a lot. He learned to lie about everything and to gather dirt on everyone from Roy Cohn. But in the end, he wouldn't even acknowledge him on the street.
Haven't seen it, but, as I can't even bring myself to watch the real DJT on television, I might have to just take a pass. The fourth wall would have to have some pretty robust insulation to endure it.
Some parts were off from what I recalled. Such as Ivanka being so sweet. And the the doctor agreeing to stupid surgery to fix bald spot, the doctor was totally against that idea. Also I remember Ivanka saying she was raped that night. Also FRED Sr was idly by as Fred Jr suffered.
I watched it before the election. Couldn’t have done it any other way. Sebastian Stan has his mannerisms down, it’s uncanny. Spare yourself but revisit when he’s just a footnote in history
Hmm just watched a news report about a Liberal MP leaving politics because of the emailed hate msgs and ppl yelling insults at her in public. CBC News says incidents against politicians are up 800%.Movies don’t stress me out.
I want to watch The Apprentice movie for only one reason:
the folks who made it were put through so much to do so and were hampered at every turn. I just feel they deserve our viewership for their courage to put the truth out there. 🤷🏻♀️
I love Sebastian Stan but when I heard he took this role, I knew I couldn't watch it. 🫤 The subject matter turns my stomach. Just like trying to watch Evan Peters play Dahmer, can't do it. 😞
Don't get lost in superficial politics, folks!
The movie is an excellent character study. Among its many merits , outstanding is Jeremy Strong's phenomenal acting. See it!
It becomes a simplicity in my life. When I see a Republican or Trump, in any context, I know it's going to be about chaos or some foolishness disturbing my peace of mind. Passing on it's noise, is a stepping toward another moment of peace.
Me too! I never watched the Apprentice, never once thought the man was good at business, thought he was a knucklehead for starting the birther movement, and his run for 2016 was a joke. The problem is not him, but those who support his ignorant orange ass.
I'm having the same problem with "Lucky Loser" by Russ Buettner and Susanne Craig. It's actually a great read about Fred Trump and how his greasy business evolved AND of course how Fred toxified Donald for life
But as fascinating as it is I find I now get a visceral nauseousness on everything Trump
Oh me too. I read his niece’s book when he ran in 2018 and i was so disgusted. Now with the bulldozer of deplorable he is pitting into the government I am beyond disgusted. And so angry….
Child of the 70s and 80s from NJ, I feel like I grew up watching that movie. Always in the local news.
So many people in this country blinded, or mislead, by The Apprentice (tv show).
I felt that way too but I was at the theater and couldn't change the channel. Stick with it. Eventually you will have that moment when you say, 'I'm not crazy'. He really is a monster molded and groomed by another monster. The end will clinch it for you. Then watch the movie "Where's My Roy Cohn"
The way these over-privileged men gang up to gaslight the women, all the while demanding a respect of their tradition is disgusting. (I am referring to Love in Blind Habibi, btw.)
"Habibi" may be the best Arabic word to hit the international big time since "algebra". Depending how you say it to someone, it can mean "I love you dude" or it can mean "Look out, asshole". AFAIK, it is secular and in general use around the world. You're good.
Nope. I never did either. I hated him from the first moment I saw him in the 1970s. It was very obvious who he was. I’ll never understand how anyone fell for him.
I never watched a single episode either.
I heard him when he was on Howard Stern in the 90’s, it was obvious he was a creepy, slimy, vapid conman.
Also, a repeated failure of a businessman.
I don’t understand why anyone would bother watching that.I have zero interest in how the apprentice came to be.Did not watch it when the real trump ran that program.Mindless broadcasting IMO
I’ve never seen the tv program The Apprentice. My husband was a business man. My husband was better in business that Trump every day of the week because he never cheated anyone to make his money although he dealt directly with people like Trump.
I’ve heard several Americans say, ‘yeah but Trump will be good for business’. The market/Street/City isn’t ’business’ . The richest 1% own 50% of stocks and the stock market is based on expectations of companies' future earnings not current earnings
I felt that way but watched it for the acting. It was surprisingly cathartic. I respect that many people can't tolerate the sight or sound of that man in any context.
I actually loved the movie, less as a film about "Trump bad" because obviously, but as a film about how the people all around you are just as capable of the same evils when positioned under the right influence.
Sickening, yes, but it's an illuminating warning about the everyday man!
Speaking of which, since it is depicted in the movie, this 👇 was known for decades by the time he ran for office the first time and, as usual for him, it didn’t matter. Excerpts from the sworn deposition of Ivana Trump describing Donald raping her…
I hope a lot of people watching have a strong stomach because I couldn't sit through it. Can't stand to look at him, let alone watch something about him, no matter how unflattering it is. Maybe some magats will see the light.
We have it on our Academy Screeners & I just can’t bring myself to watch it yet.
Highly recommend both Conclave & The Heretic…the second is in the horror genre but has a far deeper message about faith, goodness, power & evil. And Hugh Grant is a more & more interesting actor the older he gets.
Finish it has some good insight into how pathetic the man really is. It also explains where his constant attack syndrome comes from. You may not enjoy the movie but it is insightful.
I really wanted to see Stan Sebastian, he such a great actor, also Jeremy Strong, but I know Trumps story and can't voluntarily watch anything about him
Perhaps you can take a stab at why that might be. It isn't for love of Trump, that's for sure.
I was privileged to see an industry preview of it and it was masterful. No need for anyone who does see it to "stab myself in the eye" (unquote; above).
It wasn’t on many screens before the election. Orangeman didn’t want it released, which is why I spent some hard earned $$ to see it at an independent theater.
I think it’s important to support filmmakers (any artist) that stands up to power.
I am so burnt out on these clowns. It’s triggering to see the fat yam drive by in a golf cart and think he is going to be President, again and that we will never hear the end of the wealthy dude. It’s dystopian.
I just love, love, love The Apprentice because Sebastian Stan has done a masterful job of making you see the character and not the caricature (SNL for laughs). Roy Cohn as portrayed by Jeremy Strong steals the show with his coiled snake with charm galore, but repugnant. Go back and watch...
good move. makes you realize how poorly the law and the judiciary failed to defend america from this evil man. the fbi the doj and more just failed us. bigly.
I was at the movies on election night - when the trailer for that came on, the projectionist set the house lights to supernova, shouting "I bet nobody here wants to see this shyte!"
Standing ovations erupted
Anyone actively avoiding this film are exactly those who should watch it. It explains so much about his motivations and practices, all learnt at the knee of Roy Cohn. It's essential.

May have to wait until after 2029.

I know better why I dislike him so much
I know not to watch it because I’d end up buying a new television.
I remember after all this time.
Perhaps, it enough "at arms length" that you'd enjoy it.
I found him thoughtful, kind, and quite lovely.

With that said the movie perfectly illuminates his Roy Cohn-inspired rule book.

All network media, all things META.
but not without a slappy fight.

My acting coach's wife plays Trump's mom, too.
He is an obvious
low life con man
that should have
gotten publicity and
then the boot in the
primary.
Then history is made.
Too 3 this year imo
already read Butler to the World and i feel like this is going to be the shittier version.
But as fascinating as it is I find I now get a visceral nauseousness on everything Trump
So many people in this country blinded, or mislead, by The Apprentice (tv show).
I'd probably have to rewatch W and Vice first, and that might ruin the rest of my year.
You can see it so easily now; the way he follows the "3 rules" to a T.
I heard him when he was on Howard Stern in the 90’s, it was obvious he was a creepy, slimy, vapid conman.
Also, a repeated failure of a businessman.
I lived through trump’s various scams, I know all about his mentor, Cohn. The fictionalized version would just piss me off.
After our last election, I’m no stranger to that emotion already, I don’t need to pay to be angrier.
I wouldn't even have tried to watch it.
Sickening, yes, but it's an illuminating warning about the everyday man!
Where can I watch it?

The Apprentice just reinforced the fact that Trump is dumb and Cohen was evil.
I am a manatee of culture.
(Yes, I used it on purpose. You can make it mean what you want.)
I was privileged to see an industry preview of it and it was masterful. No need for anyone who does see it to "stab myself in the eye" (unquote; above).

- Crime pays in America.
- If you want to get ahead in America, skip the line.
- It’s not what you know, it’s who you can kiss up to…in America.
- Meritocracy is not in a dictionary, much like the word gullible.
- Delay. Deny. Depose.
Watching on mute with music and subtitles can take the stank off ..
