Thank you, New York Times, for your endless parade of trump such a good guy everybody should vote for him Biden sucks ass. Now you trying to pretend like you give a shit about democracy. Go fuck yourself
I’m not against capitalism per se but this is partly the result of our society’s worship of people with money. Musk and the like get free passes, are allowed to park money off shore but live in America, do everything possible to avoid paying their tax rate, donate insane amounts to candidates.
Frankly, the speed at which the USA is sinking into depravity is encouraging. The expression "you have to reach rock bottom" comes to mind. Most of us are feeling sympathy for Americans that didn't ask for this. We're feeling a growing disdain for those that did.
Here's the thing to all the people that cheer on this chaos. Lot of these people are not political money makers. They are regular people, working regular jobs to serve the citizens of the country. Some that just started, possibly just moved (lot of fed jobs aren't in your backyard), have bills...
...new location, rent or maybe mortgage, and maybe they have a family and freaking kids, and benefits. Get told suddenly after starting, sorry your done. Nothing you did, we just need to create chaos, try to make headlines...best of luck. It's so messed up on so many levels.
The historian Douglas Brinkley described Mr. Musk as a “lone ranger” with limitless running room. He noted that the billionaire was operating “beyond scrutiny,” saying: “There is not one single entity holding Musk accountable. It’s a harbinger of the destruction of our basic institutions”
Is Wiles mentioned anywhere? I refuse to give clicks but wondering if her plan was to usher in the ketamine junkie wrecking ball to destroy our government on purpose or if he outfoxed her.
@lawrenceodonnell.msnbc.com came out strong tonight on @lastword.msnbc.com, with strong facts from his own Senate experience, knowledge of federal laws, and powerful testimonials from other experts.
I still don't think the NYT understands that the Musk govt takeover is possibly the start of the end of our constitutional republic. Musk and Thiel have talked about ending nation states and establishing corporate fiefdoms
“He has a close working relationship with Mr. Trump’s top policy adviser, Stephen Miller, who shares Mr. Musk’s contempt for much of the federal work force.”
I just don’t understand. Elon is a private citizen. The kids he’s using are private citizens. If I tried to access Federal computer systems, let alone federal buildings without proper authorization and clearances, I’d be arrested. Why are these criminals not being arrested? I don’t understand.
Do I really want to read this? Last night on MSNBC, Schleiffer oozed on how great it was that Musk was bringing his business expertise to government finances.
They need to stop calling us “bureaucrats” and call us “civil service” or “public servants.”
Also the key point wasn’t explicitly made until about the second to last paragraph.
I’m glad they finally found their way to the most critical story at last, though.
This is one of the more extraordinary pieces I have seen and it doesn’t come close to what we will find out is going on. While our debt is far too high and there is likely more waste and fraud than we know a central government isn’t a business and has to operate differently fiscally and politically
I had the same thinking as you until the past few days. My worry now is that our democracy will be irreparably damaged by the time the midterms are here. Trump 2.0 seems way more dangerous than 1.0 due to the addition of Musk.
I’d bet good money that Trump is furious about this article tonight. Musk is getting too much of the spotlight, making him look weak. He doesn’t know what he’s up to and can’t control him. Drive that wedge.
Trump seems happy letting Elon do his thing but if/when he sees what Musk is doing undermines his own power he'll rein him in, or try to, it may be too late by then.
I think Trump's getting played by Musk, evil genius vs. bumbling thug, using him to claw his way to the real power, fiscal control.
Near is doing a lot of work here.“Aggressive incursion” instead of “coup” “billionaire” instead of “unelected oligarch,” “shakes up US government” instead of the “whole of United States” or “North America.” Please don’t give in to diminished expectations from America’s fourth estate.
I found the words”Elon Musk’s first two weeks in government” an interesting choice of words. It seems as if the NYTimes is normalizing his intrusion into our government.

Once their OMB financial devil gets into office he'll direct deposit money into their bank accounts.
Musk with all of our personal data will be his cruel self
It claims that the WH claims they will cut 50% of the GSA budget.
There is zero serials or reporting on any of this. There’s background on why or how, it’s just make the claim and … crickets.
When they should fear, WAY more, the VAST MAJORITY of us.

In any other circumstance, what agency would normally apply force to stop a private citizen who’s doing what he’s doing?

Cover MAGA and sane-wash it before the election to get them in the WH.
Then AFTER he MAGA wins you tell everyone what a threat this is to everyone.
Rake in the money before AND after. Ka-ching!
Or the economy collapses and they lose tons of readers.
Autocracies aren't exactly bastions of prosperity/freedom. That's what these pro-fascist business morons don't get.
In the meantime they're making bank covering the Clothesless Emperor

Not "attacks US sovereignty"
Fucking NYT
The midterms are just 21 months away…
The midterms are just 21 months away…
They will be.
States run the elections, not Trump.

Not asking rhetorically - legitimately curious.
I don’t care what they say!
