Really? I got mine about three weeks ago for $25 at H-E-B. I had literally a 5-minute virtual visit with a doctor. (For what it's worth, I get my health insurance through Obamacare.)

I found that Generic drugmakers plan to sell Pfizer's Paxlovid for $25 or less in low-income countries. It would save money to fly to one of these low-income countries and buy it there.

Paxlovid is one of those meds where the side effects are almost as bad as having covid? But the costs of NOT taking it are as high as they can be if you have the bad luck to get put down hard by covid.

Dying is the ultimate expense.

People's side effects vary. My friend who didn't take it was very sick for ten days and is still tired and congested after testing negative. I'm not sure she would agree that the side effects were as bad as what she just went through.

The only side effect I had was a metallic taste in my mouth, it made a tremendous difference in my recovery time. Everyone is different, but I’d be panicking if I got covid again and couldn’t get paxlovid.

Does paxlovid cause any long term effects like covid does? And does it protect you from any of the long term effects of covid? Assuming you don't die or lose your job during the actual infection, it's the long term damage which is the main thing.

The literature only talks about avoiding hospitalization as a yes/no binary, but it actively reduces the amount of virus in the body, so it seems very very unlikely that it doesn’t help avoid bad outcomes generally. Less virus in there wrecking house seems worth it, even if symptoms are mild.

I've just found out that nasal irrigation and oral rinse with sodium bicarbonate solution does a good job on reducing covid, according to this study, so that's something! Odd that no one is talking about it, it's such an easy thing to do.

Nasal lavage is an excellent way to flush out infections, and I use it when I'm sick. I only use distilled water and salt, because only distilled is safe, and by all the saints, do NOT forget the salt or bicarb.

You will NEVER make that mistake twice.

Anyone have advice on how to convince doctors to give you a script for it? I asked both times my household got COVID and we were told “you don’t really need it, you’ll be fine” even after significant pushback and pointing out facts from our med history that indicate otherwise.
