Doctor Who couldn't be accessed via 'watch' on my bog-standard telly eguide - otherwise I might've pushed the figure higher.
I contributed to the other two's figures that way without a problem.
Yes, I could go proper iPlayer, but I haven't... yet.
We need much more comedy front and centre in the schedules, not depressing crime dramas that all look the same. Yes, it probably takes half a dozen commissions to get one series that works but when one is a hit it can deliver for years.
I'm going to have to find a way to check this out. My husband and I are big fans of Wallace & Gromit. Brings back happy childhood memories. We've been rewatching Father Ted again for about the 20th time.
It's on Netflix outside the UK just to point that out. But in the UK it's just on the iplayer (for now) as part of the deal BBC & Netflix struck when funding the movie. So if you're outside the UK then yeah it's on Netflix.
When my 27 kid was a toddler, our friend introduced us to Wallace and Gromit. We've been a fan ever since and we actually lived on Wallace Street for 17 years.
I can’t wait to watch it! I am rewatching all of the WnG stuff before VMF. And I will always lord over people that fact that I saw the Wrong Trousers at an animation festival in the 90s.
I'm trying to convince my wife to watch with me, because I love Wallace and Gromit movies. She thinks they're stupid. Had I known that twenty years ago, I'm not sure we could have agreed to marry.
We took our 3 grandkids to the cinema to see that movie. It was a great movie, but the cost of tickets, drinks, and popcorn was highway robbery. Never again.
As John Turner points out, nearly 6 million on the BARB chart, making it number 6 for the week (ahead of The King, Strictly etc.). Meanwhile, Squid Game at number 20 with 4.3 million.
The greater the number of available choices, the lower the ratings of any individual choice. And streaming increases the number of available choices to tens of thousands.
The terms 'cartoon' and 'comic' both need retiring, IMO. They don't do justice to the heights animation and graphic storytelling have reached over the last couple of decades.
yeah. there are still cartoons and comics in the traditional sense of course but every time someone refers to a pixar movie as a "cartoon" or "cartoon movie" i die a little more inside.
Yeah, I think you’re probably safe with that one 😊 Although, to be fair, there was an immense amount of skill and hard work involved in those traditional cel animations back then too.
For sure
As a kid I just enjoyed Popeye beating the shit out of Bluto for pushing up on Olive Oyl who was playing both of them
I had a serious fear of Alice the Goon though
That voice.. yikes !
Maybe someone will make a Popeye movie using the Wallace and Gromit technique
Was really fortunate to see it in a theater with an audience. I wish this was also Netflix’s model, and not just a way to gin up awards season.
It’s wonderful and meticulous—moments of pure cinema.
Well deserved. Another great addition to the series from Ardman.
I remember enjoying their Creature Comforts series years back. Animated creatures set to short soundbites of unscripted interviews. Must check it out again, see how it’s held up over the years.

Gavin & Stacey: 19.3 million
Doctor Who: 5.9 million
If you make great scripted comedy, there will be viewers.

I’d put Aardman Animations alongside Pixar as the finest storytellers working right now!
Heavy sigh...
We watched, my niece introduced me Wallace & Gromit vhs when she was 3.
I'm used to the higher ratings
Wallace and Gromit is my favorite claymation 👀👀
Love it!
I’m cured in my “ Senior years” of using the term “ cartoon”
Took me awhile but I’ve been re-educated thoroughly

Calling Wallace and Gromit a “ cartoon” is like calling the Mona Lisa paint by numbers
Well, not that I extreme 😆
The cutoff seems to be Christmas night 1993, when the TV premiere of Ghost landed 18.5m viewers and was the sixth-most watched programme of the year.
