As much as I love photography, there is so much enjoyment in being in and experiencing nature in all its glory that eludes capture, other than in the heart and soul of the witness.
No. Kidding.
I usually take my phone with me when I walk the dog. The sunset the evening I forgot was spectacular. I caught the end of it when I got home.
I have 3 of those pictures: A bald eagle perched on a saguaro cactus in front of a rocky cliff, a mountain lion drinking across the narrow creek from me, and a wolf with a rabbit in its mouth, standing in the snow looking at me from a few feet away.
As my contribution, I have the world's largest photo collection of whale splashes. I also have a curated collection of out-of-focus eagle photos to submit. Call me at 1-800-TOO-SLOW for reprints.
It's a running joke in our family that when we go to a nature reserve the most exotic thing we will see is a sparrow. Gives us a chuckle. So top is what our family sees, bottom is what everyone else sees!
When you have your camera, the eagles back is to you. I lived in Kenya for five years. I have a vast collection of photos of the butts of animals. Lots of butts.
