I got an email from my SRO today that we are rescheduling our study section that was canceled last week and are now coordinating schedules. The earliest date allowed for us to meet is March 25.

By law, Advisory Council (and study section) meetings need to be published in the Federal Register 15 days before the meeting date.

As far as I can see, no NIH CSR meetings have yet been posted in the Federal Register. I read something about 3 business days for things to get posted, so maybe tomorrow?

It's a hopeful sign, but no advisory councils rescheduled yet, and without those, outstanding scores mean nothing as grants will hang in limbo.

☝🏼☝🏼☝🏼 Plus, with the number of GMSs and SROs they've fired, it's just another backdoor around the court orders. Now instead of it being because they're blocking FRNs entirely, it'll be advisory councils not meeting, and then not enough GMSs and SROs to ever catch up. Same effect, different method.

Looks like they will be on hold according to Jeremy’s screen capture on his follow up skeet. Hopefully councils will be allowed to be posted soon on the Federal register as well. It doesn’t make sense to allow study sections without council. Sigh!

I wonder why there is so much variability in communication with applicants, from none (eRA commons not updated; only found out cancellation from social media, no idea if will be rescheduled) to multiple emails announcing postponement of March study section & then already having rescheduled in April.

Does anyone here know what happens to grants that have gone through study sections, scored well, gone through council & due diligence and just waiting for NOAs? Im in this situation and its been super frustrating to say the least. No word from my PO or GMS after gentle reminders. Anyone?

It seems to be dependent on the IC. I’ve got two pending awards from NCI that are just waiting on final processing for a March 1 (hopefully) start. The GMS and PO were very responsive during collection of final docs, but not sure what happens after they finalize on their end…

Are you all tracking the NIH Reporter data by IC? That will tell you which IC is ~ functioning & for new awards. Also if older NOFO, look up new awards filtered by the NOFO across US to see if anyone got funded #RAdminsky

Thanks for your comment. Ours is NCATS. I could be wrong but there appears to be no awards made this year when I checked NIH reporter. That tells me this IC is not yet functional as of today for FY 2025

You are correct, nothing after Feb 1 and only 3 after January 1! You can check your historical rate by selecting multiple years to compare FY25 against the record of awards. #NCATS #savetheNIH

Still nothing in the Federal Register! Some cancelled study sections are looking at dates in April for rescheduling. Will likely lead to serious delays in NOAs, even if Council meetings are allowed again.

That is what worries me too. I hope you are wrong as well. It is clear though that Delay, Delay, Delay (avoiding too much uproar and bad publicity), seems to be the overall strategy.
