9. Hellboy 2: The Golden Army (2008)
This is probably my favorite film from director @realgdt.bsky.social

This movie is everything. The sets, the make-up, the perfomances, the choreography, the score, the story... it's just perfect.

There's a really fun sadness to the whole movie. Every win by the protagonists feels like it makes the world a little less weird and Prince Nuada, while driven by rage and malice, is motivated by a genuine desire to save his dying world. Peak fantasy storytelling

My dad loves this entry! It made him sad once, the scene where the prince kills his father. It reminded him of his father's Parkinson's diagnosis, and how he asked to die towards the end. Very personal stuff for him, but also beautiful that he let it off his chest.
