tbh, the other day, i was thinking this about Holes. it seems like something they would have run into the ground, the way our generation is so nostalgic for it
I think since holes is anti prison industrial complex after the first movie Disney was like let's not do that again. However, the original author of Holes wrote a sequel that seems interesting.
*adjusts glasses* Actually certain editions of the book contain the first chapter of a "sequel" Goldman teased but never intended to finish. Buttercup had a daughter named Waverly.
I've read it. It's kinda bad, but almost anything would be after reading Princess Bride (it was included at the end of one of the anniversary editions).
Pretty sure that was part of the joke. The conceit of the novel is that it is the "good parts" version of an epic 19th-century doorstopper (think anything by Victor Hugo, for example), stripped of all the 60-page digressions on history or fashion but keeping all the exciting adventure stuff.
It actually was pretty fun, and has Carl Reiner's final performance to close it out. It's an obvious love letter to the movie, not an attempted remake.
Well... I thiiiink there was a licensed mobile game slot machine based on it once. I recall seeing an ad for it when I was a teenager. But don't quote me on that.
I sure as hell wish it was just a hallucination 'cause why'd you waste such a great movie on... gambling!?
In a newer edition of the Princess Bride, William Goldman wrote the first chapter of a mock sequel. Because he was having a beef with Stephen King. The original book is extremely meta.
Lead characters in Muppet adaptations are invariably played by human actors, and if they have love interests or family members, those characters are human as well. Far more likely Kermit reads the story to his nephew Robin, and the next top-billed Muppets play Inigo, Fezzik, and Vizcini.
Relegating Kermit to the role of narrator didn't seem right somehow. I think Prince Humperdink would be the ideal role for a human; maybe Chris Evans? With The Count playing his sidekick, the six-fingered man
Short of the Muppets remaking it I don't want it to be touched but that hasn't stopped Highlander, The Crow, Jurassic Park and many others that should have been one and done.
Hollywood did remake art movies which... If you can't read subtitles then maybe you shouldn't watch Jean-Luc Godard.
It’s the right of the author til death plus 70 years after. William Goldman wrote the book and the movie himself, and he died in 2018, meaning it’ll take years for them to get that right.
I contacted William Goldman years ago about making a children's version of the book and he said no. He was happy with it as-is. If he owns the IP, then I think he would say no to any sequels, reboots, etc.
In the 25th edition of the book, Goldsman writes a chapter of a proposed sequel called "Buttercup's Baby". I liked it quite a bit and would have loved to see him finish it off.

i feel like any further iterations COULD be done well!! as long as the ppl behind it cared enough to!😩

Actually it's old enough for a reboot no problem with the right director.
Obviously Kermit is Westley and Miss Piggy is Princess Buttercup. Who would be the rest of the cast?
Take a little walk with me here as I introduce your very own Inigo Montoya played by none other than everyone's favorite Gonzo the Great!!
Of course, he is never without his traveling companion, the faithful Fezzik, played by Fozzie Bear

Can't wait for an edit button on this site
Anything added to it would fuck it up
imagining creepy CGI Andre the giant... 🤢
They'd never do it justice.
Don't. Omg, you're gonna disturb the stasis. Take it back. Quick. Before some nimrod goes, "Heyyyyy..." 🧏🏻♂️
