trying to determine how many more planes have to fall out of the sky and how much more control elon gets over the government before i decide not to go to GDC. a lot can happen in a month

“take amtrak!” a train to california would take three days and if i wanted to be able to sleep in a bed on that trip it would cost two thousand american dollars
I understand it's not for everyone but if I had the time and a half decent reason to do so I would 100% do this and just sleep on the floor in one of the baggage cars
I really want to take a train someplace some time but I'm still angry that the only Amtrak trains that stop in Cleveland do so at like 4:00 am when the commuter rail I'd use to get to the Amtrak station aren't running.
Megabus saved my whole life when I was 20 and had to get from PA to TX. however, it took 3 days, and I Did Not Sleep. great for if you treat it like a road trip and plan to sleep at a hotel tho. cheaper than driving for sure
the number one thing amtrak could do for their profits would be to lower the prices of the rooms/beds. i would absolutely spring for a bed that was 2x the size and price of a chair with zero other benefits. maybe a pillow
really it depends on the distance you’re trying to go. anything short enough where you could make it with a coach ticket is definitely worth it in my opinion
This is EXACTLY the calculus I’m doing. Okay so if I survive the plane… maybe there’s a secret tuberculosis or bird flu thing going around GDC? What if Super Duper Burger doesn’t wash their lettuce and there’s a listeria outbreak and no one knows. Anyway, I think I’ve landed on 3 total crashes
