National Insecurity is not a bug, it's a feature... of this Administration. Most reportage of this story fail to note that this was not merely incompetence; this is a calculated, intentional jettisoning of national security in order to escape internal accountability and oversight.
Mr. Takei - I hope you are making your “5 calls a day” to your Reps and Senators to share your feedback. I also hope you will join “us” on 4/5/25 to protest throughout the USA about all the horrible things happening right now.
I can't shake the feeling that it really feels like an act. I don't know if the *actual* security leak stuff was incompetence, or bait, but the rest reads like "look how awesome we are at getting things done, voters! Oops, I mean reporters, uh I mean no one, this is how we get it done"
The Espionage Act of 1917 is a U.S. federal law, enacted shortly after the U.S. entered World War I, that criminalizes actions intended to harm national defense or interfere with the war effort, including espionage and the unauthorized disclosure of classified information.
Awesome distraction from the Administration's offshore prisons-for-non-criminals, though. I wonder what they'll do to distract us from the Signal screwup? This continual firehose feels like a core feature of a kakistocracy.
"Sure! Kill a ton of people. But for chrissake be careful of the oil!"
A tale as old as time. Our hopeless fucking addiction to petroleum rears it's ugly head constantly.
This was bad but the big scandal is why are America’s top officials using private encrypted apps and phones in violation of the Presidential Records Act and all security? They are using these apps to make sure no one in our government can ever see what they are planning and doing.
Yes. Someone mentioned that these idiots are just following Project 2025 - using personal phones, etc., to do government business and destroy/delete everything once done. Leave no traces behind.
Not surprised if they have been conducting government business this way for other stuff for a while.
Does anyone not see that the journalist fuckup wasn't a fuckup? It was quite deliberate. This is what the orange orangutan wants, is for the country to completely fall apart, be exposed, etc. It's all part of the revenge plan.
The only way this would have been better would have been if they had all insulted #Trump in the thread. Would have loved to have seen the fireworks then from the big orange baby!
You’re not bailing out Europe, you’re trying to fix your fuckups. America is the one funding Israel’s attacks in Gaza and this has led to Houthi attacks on Israel and international shipping. You’re the fucking cause if this problem. Maybe America staying home will be really good for the world.
HIGHLY revealing what Trump’s cabinet thinks of Europe - they despise us, and will only help if there’s dollars for them - who needs an ally like that?
That should be a minimum requirement to hold office... Understand the rules of Risk. But you know these folks thought playing a game like that was uncool.
Security violations aside, does anyone care about who they are bombing, and why? If they were chatting about bombing Canada, would people over here start to pay attention to those minor details?
It's nice to know their true colors. Now maybe Europe can wake up and get in control. The US is not an ally. They are mercenaries going for tre highest bid. No more, no less. It sucks.
The question now is; whats going to be done about this? Is it going to be swept under the carpet when a couple years ago there’d be a full scale investigation and firings?
The Trump administration is downplaying this as a no bid deal issue. When in fact, it is a huge issue. Discussing top secret information on an unsecured network is not okay
Otis was kind hearted tho he wouldn’t be so evil and disgusting AND he would have already locked himself up! (And nobody under 50 know what we are talking about lol)
Beside the reporter, none of the others on the chat are guaranteed to be who they say they were. They could be foreign spies.
Additionally, there are almost certainly foreign nations that have infiltrated their personal phones and see everything on their screens. Yes, this is SO insane :^(.
George, what worries me more is this is only one group chat. How many more have happened that we don't know about, that could have been intercepted by others? The fallout from this should be epic.
You know what?? I’m more worried about Social Security cuts than these moronic imbeciles trashing the country on line! How far do we have to go before SOMEONE saves us??😡😡
Everyone clearly misses the real reason the WH uses Signal APP for highly classified communication:
(1) it is a breach of DOD records retention policy
(2) does not comply with FOIA requirements
(3) Has been hacked by Russia, so they can read it all
The fact that Pete Hegseth "hates bailing out Europe again" shows his arrogant incompetence in not remembering it is the US who is the only country to invoke the NATO Article 5 after 9/11

BAILING OUT IS RA HELL and yourselves is what you are doing
With innocent people
This is how criminals work.
This is not just insane, it is criminally insane.
Great job MAGA voters, the U.S. is no longer recognizable.
A tale as old as time. Our hopeless fucking addiction to petroleum rears it's ugly head constantly.
Not surprised if they have been conducting government business this way for other stuff for a while.
And...the reporter left on his own without ever being discovered.
Are we defining zombies or a coma here?
Clown show.
😄🤫🇨🇦🤠
No-one asked you to bomb anyone, and there are European patrols in place around Yemen since '08.
🙄🙄🙄
Signalgate?
Textgate?
