Unskilled labor is a myth. Taco Bell was the hardest job I’ve ever had to this day and I met the hardest working dedicated folks there.
This is why everyone should work a service or retail job.

Also learned... a lot of people are downright MEAN to fast food employees!
And also, just in general I already feel uncomfortable with people doing things for me. I turn extra polite, embarrassed to be waited on.
All politicians and C-level execs should be required to work at least 6 months in such a job.
You know, where we're using shears and clippers on wiggling, sometimes angry pets who aren't used to being groomed. 🙃
Our regular groomer is a powerhouse & a treasure!
I did a 3 month course where I learned the basics and have continued educating myself. Petsmart/Co/Supplies+ have their own certification programs.
I, personally, would love to have some kind of license. But then they have to admit we're not unskilled.
Meaning most of them also have no health insurance. 🙃 It took me 3 days to get help after I got bit by a cat, and never had PT until *this year* for a shoulder injury in 2006.
Or say "Just work in retail" where they require you to stand, and don't like when you fall asleep at the counter (I also did not get disability🙃)
I wish they would actually sign up with Indeed, CareerBuilder, etc., and see that those jobs don't exist.
I could NOT work the drive thru.
I am too damn slow!
It is a very fast paced job that requires multi tasking and problem solving and being able to communicate to staff and the customer instantly
I think fast food workers do excellent work!
Crew Leader, Team Leader!
The General was very impressed.
The next time, he needed a complicated task done accurately and quickly, he asked who has worked at McDonald's drive thru for more than a year?
He found that was a valuable skill for the Army!
all harder work than most desk jobs
Most people are stuck in prisons of narratives. Rather than thinking for themselves.
We can #unite anytime.

And yes, I consider this practice discriminatory.
F.M. radio at work is slightly better. Although hearing the same songs every day led me to look up parody versions and create a playlist. I can still sing most of I Like Shapes over Ed Sheeran's Shape of You.
Everyone assumed I had the ability to do everything perfectly because the job was "easy", and if anything went wrong it must be because I, personally, was lazy or malicious.
End of the night, generally worn down, dirty, and come pay day….not much better.
Met some of the best people ever though as coworkers thru this stage. All in the same boat mentality
Scooping ice cream (1 arm, just 1) became well toned thru to unboxing/hanging/ticketing clothing to (finally) grocery bagger (grad school.)
All needed skills & grit.
I worked college food service, peeling hard boiled eggs from 5am - 7pm.
I never had to peel eggs, but I did have to load and unload the conveyor-belt dishwasher. That was a lot of not-fun.
Mandatory civil service that consists of successfully holding down service or retail positions for a minimum of six months total actual paid work
Man the shit we were made to do in Joe jobs the 90s.
Those jobs were brutal!
our spouses at first: you guys aren't even in the business anymore, what are you doing
us: don't you dare put that napkin in that coffee cup
"But to be GOOD at it you need more than 30 minutes!"
'Kay. Reiterating the OP: YOU try to work that drive-thru lunch rush after a 30 minute intake, hot shot. FFS.
No one should have to work 2 jobs.
Medical care should never be tied to employment, it should be a right.
A job should provide comfort and luxury.
also, altho i did not have the honor of working at a Taco Bell, I did my hours at McDonalds, a factory, a department store, Chuck E. Cheese (briefly) & other minimum wage jobs
by “unskilled” they mean “low-paying” 😡
However, very few jobs are actually that simple and straightforward, even if they are treated that way.
Okay so you agree that all labour is skilled labour that you can improve through effort. Thanks.
Also notice you left out the "30 minutes vs 1 year" part. Nice.
These people don’t have much room to improve. Productivity stays the same.
But the broader “unskilled” category is about the low barrier to entry. Maybe they should call it something else.
Ditto content creators. You don't think there's skill differentiating who is successful and who isn't?
There are landlords who work hard and have thin margins.
There are varying degrees of skilled jobs…
I thanked her.
Then got a job as a waitress at a local diner. Better than McDonald's, but ultimately landed in retail for a long-ish while.
There is no bigger myth.
Also, if you don't think everyone deserves a livable wage, you are admitting to being a prick that looks down their nose at an individual based on them doing a job you consider yourself as being far too good to do. That says far more about you than it says about the person doing their job.
So yeah, everyone, especially the criticizers, should try it at least once to see just how terrible it can be (not always, but 99% of the time)
