Curious to where this is. There aren't too many places where Painted and Red Ears naturally overlap (Those look like Midlands, but not sure). Invasive Red Ears are much more likely to overlap in range.

Apparently they're actually really chill in general unless they're feeling hungry or threatened. They have a reputation for being mean because they really, REALLY hate being picked up in the only way that keeps fingers out of bite range.
