Here's a picture of someone being pulled off the street in broad daylight during the rule of the Argentine junta. If you do it in public, during the day, it's because you want people to see

Large numbers of those people, 'Los Desaparacidos', were tortured to death or thrown from planes to drown at sea. It's the sort of thing that unchecked fascism does, and it really could happen in the US.
You've already seen the inklings of that strategy in their defense of the flights to El Salvador. They claimed at one point that the courts didn't have jurisdiction beyond the national borders. No jurisdiction == no crime.
Their arguments wouldn't be consistent with any hitherto legal norms to which most Western countries have long subscribed. But the US Supreme Court is now a far more Conservative and partisan bench, so who's to say how it would rule, or even whether this administration would abide by its decisions?

America is already there. It will happen to you or someone you know. Ask yourself: what's to stop it from escalating? We need community-worker defense brigades now, and a left party unbeholden to corporations to lead us. Waiting for 2028, for the Democrats to "return to power" is a pipe dream.
@hypervisible.bsky.social a poignant coincidence: this woman was kidnapped by the US on March 24. That same day, tens of thousands took to the streets of Buenos Aires to mourn and remember the thousands murdered by the dictatorship, which started that same day 49 years ago. Ni olvido ni perdón.
I keep thinking about studying the trials after the dirty wars. The mid level officers took the brunt of the punishment. I wonder about arresting the pilots of the planes and the hoodlums who dragged the student off the streets. Send a message. Given the DOJ is now corrupt and owned I guess not
