I didn't see yours until after I posted mine. I was googling "roomba" "united kingdom" when you posted - I wanted to make sure it was called the same thing in the UK as in the US.
Please tell me you didn't wander down the street until you saw one seemingly unattended, and just ... took it. And I'm not surprised that scanning it for a chip came back negative!
