I have a friend who took every Wednesday off for several months. They told me it was so that they would never be more than a day away from a day off. They were on to something!
I have often wondered what the optimal day of the week is to take off. I don’t think Wednesday is the most popular choice, but I think it is a good underrated one.
When I learned in French class that (at least in the early 2000s) French schools had Wednesday off then did a half day on Saturday I was SO jealous, a perfect schedule
My wife currently has that exact schedule and she seems to really enjoy it. We can get errands or appointments handled, or just go hang out and do something fun. Every time you go to work the next day is effectively always "Friday." Does a lot for your mental.
That was my work schedule when I hit 60. Two days of work, Wednesday off, then two days of work. Now in my 70’s every day is a Wednesday. Or maybe it’s Friday, I’m pretty sure I just put the recycling out 🤔
When my office was offering four day work weeks, everyone else was angling for Friday or Monday off and they wondered why I immediately claimed Wednesday. "Come to work for two days, day off, work two days, two days off." "OoooOOOOOoh. Good point."
nah the level of freedom and mental unplugging of the three day weekend is sooo much more than a two day. Wednesday off is like a one day weekend. All chores and thinking about next day’s work.
The only thing I miss about my old shitty job is the fact that I had Wednesdays off. I always romanticized an office job with weekends off but it’s kinda not as good now that I’m in it :/
I think any schedule that afford 3 free days in our society can be similarly life changing. Makes you realize our current 5/2 system is super fucked and antiquated.

I used to work in customer service for 10+ years & could never dictate my own hours. Fuck that.
Now every workday is either a Monday or a Friday & it's awesome. Seriously can't recommend it enough.
There was a spirited debate between the Friday off and Wednesday off crowds.
I was usually on the Friday side (that was my shift, and the job was very physical, so a day of rest before my weekend seemed most ideal).
