The pass to the wing immediately after gaining the blue line works less than 50% of the time. And that seems to be the entry strategy of choice.

And it feels like a lot of those guys think 2019 was 2 years ago

Way too many NHL GM's and coaches involved, everyone fighting to get Their Guy(s) on the roster.

"I'll leave what was said on the ice" is all you're likely going to get.

Yep. And after the game they'll say they had to defend the anthem

I agree with you, but USA hockey loves a white helmet

USA Hockey has almost always worn white helmets

So much good stuff in this clip. I could listen to Harry Neal read the dictionary.

Leafs lost 9-3, and Martin Jones had to come in and he let in 4, but if Samsonov was not the worst goalie I've ever seen live, then the Leafs have a decent chance of getting points in that game.

The game vs Buffalo on Dec 21, 2023 I'd say he cost the Leafs points. 5 goals on 19 shots. He couldn't make a routine save, I was there and I'll never be over it.

I don't think the dinosaurs in charge trust the tech at all. But it would be correct more often than guessing based on 5 different camera angles that don't really show anything conclusive
comment in response to

Yeah it ended up being the wrong use for the tech, but imagine where we could be today with goal reviews etc. if they built off of that.

Exactly. Every sport has a similar example. The NHL used to be at the forefront of this stuff back in the FoxTrax days. They're so inept now it's not even funny
comment in response to

It would be so easy. Zero out all the pucks flat on the ice before the game. You could pinpoint exactly when the puck changes direction, and if the height of that change is 4' or under, it's a goal.

They didn't look very good after the first period. Outshot by 20 and Joe saved their ass

Berube's system is contributing to having more injuries, as well as creating the adversity that makes it more difficult to score goals. If you have to bang and crash to retrieve pucks that you intentionally dumped into the corners, guys are going to get hurt. The system is flawed.

It's such a predictable entry, even if they cleanly execute, which is never

I understand the idea that something had to change after another first round exit, but how exactly is this better? They made a change to make a change and the team is worse off for it.

It's actually good and smart to give your opponent their easiest competition immediately after they score a goal.
