America's workers are not "falling" into homelessness. They're being pushed. My essay for @nytopinion.nytimes.com:

This Russian long game of using compliant U.S. leaders to ultimately destroy our nation and democracy is very important to keep front of mind. It’s not like Putin and advisers haven’t made long game clear, and now they have men on inside, not to mention so-far accommodating congressional leaders.

OK folks--here is the answer. They are not simply removing programs because of their political biases--they are terminating existing NIH grants. Yours or mine could be next! 🧪

When there's a fight the guy who actually fights tends to have an advantage.

Jon's right that institutions need not eliminate DEI; in fact much of DEI is legally obligatory. The scary thing about obedience is - when does it end? The demands are likely to escalate.

We received more than 100 questions for our panel on Eric Adams and what his apparent deal with the Trump administration means for NYC. There's still time for you to RSVP to our virtual panel TONIGHT at 7 p.m. Come! And ask our reporters your questions. https://buff.ly/40WTWwD

That’s how you write a headline, people.

Years ago, after the Cambridge Analytica scandal, I interviewed a former fb employee, and I remember her continually emphasizing that these tech bros weren't evil geniuses, but were, in fact, dangerous because they were utterly clueless, totally reckless, and had too much power.

Again, there are literally not enough jobs to rapidly absorb all these displaced federal workers (who will also now be competing for non-government jobs with everyone else in the U.S.).

a maximalist strategy of opposition against every nominee as unqualified would have stood a better chance of creating the kind of public outrage that might have led to more republican defections, but i'm sure the imaginary family that chuck schumer relies on to guide his decisions disagreed

If Democrats don’t wake the fuck up, there’s a really good chance of a Dem version of the tea party movement taking out a few incumbents in primaries next year. The base is *pissed* and wants fighters. A lot of Dem electeds are just sitting on their hands and doing nothing.

i’m not a believer but sometimes other people’s faith really really helps me

a year ago 16-year-old Oklahoman Nex Benedict died after a bathroom beating. in the time since, we've lost more trans kids, while losing federal trans rights. how a community is holding itself together after years of living under Trump's current anti-trans policies at the state level @teenvogue.com

The millions in USAID food is STILL sitting at the Port of Houston. Trump fired the watchdogs reporting on this story, he doesn’t want Americans to see this debacle. Wasting millions on food already purchased is the epitome of wealthy entitlement #Voices4Victory www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/usa...

it is genuinely incredible that all you have to do is scratch the surface and it becomes clear that each of these guys is a huge piece of shit

i am going to put a finer point on this: executive orders are not laws. and they certainly are not royal decrees. they are interpretations of existing law for the purposes of enforcement. the fact that so many people are treating them as laws is actually driving me a bit insane.

“Such protests on military installations are exceedingly rare, even when service members are not involved. While service members are prohibited from carrying out actions that may be perceived as partisan, military spouses face few prohibitions.” www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...

Democrats get mad when the people who elect them expect them to use the tools they have available to them and respond to the urgency of the moment. www.axios.com/2025/02/12/d...

maybe don’t pretend it’s cute that a yarked out of his mind on meth Elon Musk is using his kid as a human shield

America’s top diplomat, ladies and gentlemen, the guy who is going to stop the rest of the world from disrespecting us.

Speaking as an agender: So weird for cis people to be like “I don’t get it” when you guys are like also very attached to your internal sense of sex and gender Like what’s not to get? Not being an asshole, is what it looks like

No one's blaming Democrats for causing this crisis, but yes, many of them are failing to meet this moment. One Democratic senator could bring the chamber to a halt. House Dems can go to fed agencies being gutted by Musk with cameras in tow. Governors can push back. State AGs can bring lawsuits.

Is this real? Am I here right now?

i sat next to the wallet inspector every day in the park. we became friends, so i assumed the best when he asked to inspect my wallet

Undermining the core function of the government was always central premise of project 2025

I’ve had this exact thought and then the whole plot of “it’s a wonderful life” runs through my head and I just…..

This meets every definition of a coup we’ve got, and we need like, one Democrat to say so.

Respectfully, did you read any U.S. news reports from May to August of 2020?

sources tell me you should handcuff yourself to the entrance of the treasury building so the media covers the government takeover from your pov instead of elon musk's

The ordinary questions you might ask: Is Elon Musk a government employee? Are his lieutenants? Does he personally hold a security clearance and do his “lieutenants”? Have they all undergone a background check? Are they subject to foreign influence? Have they ever done a sieg heil on stage?

This is the Treasury Secretary enabling a coup. I’m so glad very prominent people told us he was a “credible” nominee. bsky.app/profile/mcop...

There appear to be at least three separately operating heel factions breaking things within the government in wholly different ways right now. There's the Miller-headed immigration one, the DOGE/Elon one, and a Project 2025 OMB one. This dynamic hasn't showed up in mainstream reporting at all.

Remember when proud boys began to emerge and we called them early for using white power signs. Then all the same people told us they weren’t. Then they just began admitting it? That’s the tactic you all. Musk testing the waters.

We launched the Tell Meta petition this morning with @ultraviolet.bsky.social and others. It racked up 5,000 signatures within a few hours. Please click to add your name and read more details.

My statement on the Mayor's sudden trip to Mar-a-Lago.

If you are having an abortion in an anti-choice state, do not tell your boyfriend.

this washes away any residual doubt. the real motivation behind Meta’s policy changes isn’t some misguided conception of free speech, it’s just discrimination.

Ladies and gentlemen... the weekend. (also: you are important and are not alone 🧡)

🧵 THREAD: Our reporter spent the past year reporting inside the State Department, trying to answer the central question of Biden’s foreign policy: How did the U.S. let Israel get away with widespread horrors in Gaza?

Fascinating early data from NYC's congestion pricing experiment. Overall traffic is down by 8%. www.bloomberg.com/graphics/202...

"The New Segregationists" is a more accurate headline. You could go through nearly this entire article replacing "anti-DEI" with "segregationist," and it would work. Homogeneity is the opposite of diversity, which is what they aim for. www.theatlantic.com/newsletters/...
