Welcome to my Gracklery

"It's only then you realize while you're talking about organizing and committees, the extermination has already begun."

governments should spend money, literally all their fucking money. on taking care of the people from whom they got the money. on building cool shit for the people from whom they got the money to use, like highways and public works. this is real easy how can these people be so bad at this

Next up from the whale watch: aftermath, the last few seconds of a breach. I love the dynamic nature of this shot, pleased I got that pectoral fin in all its glory LOL. :) 📷🦑🌿

I’ve had a few people ask “oh, so is disagreeing with Gavin Newsom on trans athletes a PURITY TEST?” And yes, protecting trans people from discrimination is a vital purity test. It is pathetic and disgusting how many people who claim to be Democrats are failing it.

When I was a grad student at UVa, I deeply enjoyed when people would just fucking troll the Monticello tour guides about Sally Hemmings.

Glenn Youngkin takes a victory lap on Fox for University of Virginia ending DEI and says it's a step toward restoring the values of Thomas Jefferson

Columbia bent over backwards to throw its own students and faculty under the bus. There is no reasoning here.

well this made me cry over breakfast. to any democrats holding even a shred of power right now: look at what’s possible from people far more endangered and vulnerable than you and grow a spine, you fucking cowards www.erininthemorning.com/p/powerful-s...

A small Proboscis Bat hanging out along a waterway in the Amazon river basin. These bats can be found in small groups along rivers and streams and range throughout much of South America east of the Andes Mountains. Check out the tiny tail! 🦊 #ThowbackThursday

This is the news we deserve. “These are the 1st images of humpbacks having sex, and they're both males 'It was not what I was expecting,' says biologist Stephanie Stack”

I’ve been apprised that this is an old photo of cool Gavin doing a “troll” of those who want books like these banned. I apologize. I didn’t know he was so invested in freedoms that he did a picture. Trans people are not bookshelf-sized so they can be banned from things. Gavin doesn’t make the rules!

What’s so funny to me about this pic is the amount of pages turned. Clearly he isn’t just a few pages into Beloved and someone took this. He had to think about how far into the book he should be and thought being, like, in the middle would look staged but decided “30 pages in is believable”

If a university spokesperson was doing this it would be national news, and used as justification for the federal government to defund the university. The truth is that antisemitism is just one of the excuses they are using to justify destroying independent institutions.

BREAKING: The University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University has reneged on their commitment to host the @sciencewriters.org annual conference and withdrew their entire financial support. The National Association of Science Writers is now looking for a new venue, sponsors, and partners.

UMaine is hiring TWO faculty at the Assistant or Associate level in Political Science and International Affairs. One is the new Dan and Betty Churchill Professorship in Climate Policy. Please share widely! fa-ewca-saasfaprod1.fa.ocs.oraclecloud.com/hcmUI/Candid...

🦇Happy #WorldBookDay!!! What is your favourite bat-related book? We are very lucky for the support of some lovely book authors who donate part of their sales to our to help bats. Find more here: www.bats.org.uk/support-bats...

“We’re actually going to kill people is what it amounts to” new piece in AP on NIH funding cuts and grant review delays…lil’ quote from yours truly in there too 😊 apnews.com/article/trum...

i’m sorry, i’m tired of this shit. there was no pronoun policing. i have encountered exactly three or four land acknowledgments in like ten years, and the most you’ll hear about “intersectionality” is in liberal nonprofits. this is just freefloating resentment masquerading as analysis.

Neat!

Won’t someone please save this sport from the buttplug’s greed

It would be helpful if more people understood renewable energy is actually an extremely disruptive technology and the reason monied interests are trying to make folks hate it is that they are the ones which will be disrupted.

Now it has come home to my university of 32 years. Sad day. totally understandable. Thanks Mr. Trump. No thanks really. www.sevendaysvt.com/news/amid-fi... ❄️🧪💙📚 #scicomm #climate #science

If you’ve got $20,000 a month to spend on a “PhD level” ai agent, just hire a person.

you’re fired. wait you’re rehired. email us a list of things you’ve done today wait forget it you’re fired again. come back your job was important. you’re fired. or hired. come in to the office. wait the office has no computers go home. we are the department of government efficiency.

Let's talk about this Nature piece in more detail. I've rarely read something so anti-scientific anywhere short of the National Review. www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Just remember Latimer is in office because Zionists decided the progressive — Jamaal Bowman — had to go

“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

Thankfully the American people threw out the administration that oversaw high monthly job growth—AKA the worst economy in history—and replaced it with one deliberately causing job loss. #Populism

worst of luck to the DOJ flacks who have to get back up in front of a judge soon and explain why the president just told everyone Elon was in charge of DOGE instead of the random career person they “put in charge” while she was on vacation

During his first administration, Donald Trump became the first US president in history to un-protect a protected area.

“so i bought a mercedes,” this country is amazing

I actually think the dems should attend the SOTU, wait till the 2nd sentence, and then walk out en masse, that'll do it, there'll be no address, he'll just have a meltdown on national Tv

Had a bunch of conversations before the election and again before inauguration about what US support for UA would look like under Trump. I said "he'll wind it back, and cancel it entirely. 3 months if we're lucky". Folks said it was "alarmist and pessimistic". Anyway, turns out answer was 5 weeks.

I am not going to call this a Bluetorial, because I do not want to sully that term (which, at least I, find joyful). Let’s call it a Orwellial.

Trotting this out again for #WorldWildlifeDay. Thirty Animals, each drawn at 1" square. Pencil on marker paper, 2018.

"The president has been impeached. That's a pretty big lesson...I believe that he will be much more cautious in the future." - Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), February 2020 www.cbsnews.com/news/susan-c...

it would be great if we had a democratic party willing to go out and say “this is an insane lie to get you to irrationally hate a minority group trying to just exist peacefully” rather than start throwing us under the bus and twiddling their thumbs

There should be more sports where a bicycle kick works. As far as I can tell right now it’s just soccer and maybe MMA

when i was a baby PhD student, i used to find so many scientific papers difficult to follow and thought that meant i just didn't understand what was in them. several years later, i'm pretty sure that those papers were just badly written.

So, wait. For basically ever, men were earning way more than their female counterparts, and the messaging was that women were "too emotional" or whatever. And the second women start earning more than men, men completely lose their shit and it's a "crisis" "gripping" them? What a bunch of losers.
