We need a class action suit against Elon Musk for transferring our Social Security data to his private server. I want him in prison!

SCOOP: New Social Security chief was being investigated for leaking data to DOGE when Musk team tapped him. Sr officials placed him on paid leave while probing whether he may have violated privacy & tax laws, WaPo's Lisa Rein reports. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Only reason I got to work on time this morning is because I scared myself awake two hours ago with the sudden awareness that I'd set my alarm for 3 hours past the time I was supposed to be here. How's *your* day starting off?

Where does "I thought Donald Trump had shrewd business acumen" fit into this?

People experiencing pregnancy loss in states with abortion bans told us they wished they had known what to expect and how to advocate for themselves. We created this guide for anyone who finds themselves in the same position.

That's kind of the point with a grievance philosophy like Nazism. Your enemy has to be a real group you can scapegoat, but it *cannot* be a group that has any *actual* power, and preferably it has to be small enough that the general public won't recognize them as their neighbors in the community.

I'll believe the trending KGB allegations after I've bothered to see if they're credible. Gotta say though. This is starting to read likely a preteen's badly written first fanfic after watching too much James Bond and Indiana Jones.

Far as I can tell, One Piece is mostly a series of connected stories of horrifying childhood trauma masquerading as a fun pirate adventure story - and I'm definitely hooked. Who knew that such an absurd premise and fucking ridiculous character designs would turn out to have such phenomenal writing?

I really want to add with this: USPS is a lifeline for small businesses and many who need it for medication, etc. across this country. This is going to be a terrible move. Let me figure out a specific call for action, but until then: KEEP. CALLING.

What concerns me most about the impending news is that I don't think nearly enough people understand that being a nonprofit, Constitutionally guaranteed service is what makes USPS critically valuable. No private carrier will replace that. This will be a huge loss.

Can someone ELI5 how this does not contradict "Medicare, Medicaid, none of that stuff is going to be touched"?

New: DOGE's spending has been secret. No longer. My colleagues have uncovered it. www.propublica.org/article/doge...

"I disagree with McConnell on most policy issues and don’t respect many of his decisions," Perry Bacon Jr. writes. "But no one can deny that Mitch McConnell fundamentally changed American politics — mostly for the worse."

the whole 2020-2024 era of “dems shouldnt aggressively use the levers of power bc then republicans will do the same thing when theyre elected” sure looks dumb as dog shit right now huh

Oh, HEY, this is both really good news (A stronger causative pathway and something we can potentially vaccinate against) and potentially very scary. Alzheimers as a potential Long HCMV. www.azcentral.com/story/news/l...

the “make america healthy again” agenda appears to be an elaborate op conjured up by sentient strains of listeria and salmonella www.nytimes.com/2025/02/18/u...

If it’s a social media post, it might be trolling. If it’s a social media post that becomes an executive order which is the enjoined by a court but continues to be carried out regardless, it is not trolling.

We can live in a democracy or we can live in a society where billionaires exist. We can't have both.

I find it very hard to believe someone who "always considered herself a Democrat" would suddenly pivot to Trump. That claim warrants interrogation - especially if we're supposed to interpret "considering yourself a Democrat" to mean a specific ideological alignment.

I have a video that does a MUCH better job of showing how bad our roof is leaking right now but Bluesky is being ass about uploading it.

It occurs to me that we need to acknowledge that there is a difference between "peaceful" and "nonviolent." Civil disobedience doesn't need to be peaceful at all. It needs to loud, angry, and disruptive as hell.

Still waiting for the deluge of articles admonishing the current administration for not being more conciliatory to the losing side.

As always, @chriswarcraft.bsky.social is a real one.

"A kind of dividend." Sure, if you don't actually know what a dividend is, and if you don't understand that passing out a single $5000 check isn't gonna do shit to mitigate the systems-wide collapse we're about to endure. www.fox4news.com/news/5000-do...

The Mississippi Legislature is not a public body and not subject to the state’s Open Meetings Act, a Hinds County Chancery Court judge ruled Tuesday, affirming a 2023 Mississippi Ethics Commission finding.

Wife found a UVA rocking chair on marketplace for $80. Only trouble was the spindles were broken. A few surplus dowels from the bin and an hour later I’ve got a really, really nice rocking chair!

And then there's weirdos like me who see this and immediately go "bet I could crochet that."

“I am a king and my will is law” isn’t a clever distraction from what he’s doing, it’s the central underlying justification for everything he’s doing.

Hey, I can get behind this. In fact I'm very much okay with it. Trump crash Air Force One - yes, please.

I mean, the average American has almost certainly 1) NOT seen and certainly not read the Executive Order, and 2) is likely only barely aware of Trump's "king" remark at all, let alone as anything more crazy than all the rest of the shit he says.

It's extremely telling that you feel like you have to add "but it's striking to see him say that he's the king." It's almost like you know damned well that this isn't just trolling but you can't quite bring yourself to admit it plainly.
