I'm a quantitative anthropologist teaching in a data science graduate program. I live in the (currently rainy) PNW with my border collie and some fancy rats.

And there are no demonstrations. I was hoping to see some noise. Where are they? Perhaps it's too cold?

We told you.

Me too. I am in an utter state of disbelief.

I feel like I'm having a stroke, too. Effing insanity.

Start saving 10% of your income in a retirement account as soon as you start working.

You may be right. But there are thousands of people shutting down freeways in Los Angeles right now to protest ICE raids, and the military is not there shooting them in the legs. So I think it's okay to take the chance. And I think we need to take the chance anyway. Remember Kent State?

The parallels are a real bummer.

As a previous NSF grantee, I think this is horrid.

I'm not surprised. It was shocking to see so many people whose ancestors suffered discrimination and worse vote against their own interests.

How do we keep those people out of here? It seems social media always gets infected by conspiracy theories.

I had a double mastectomy two years ago. I have implants but developed capsules contracture after radiation. I'm now considering options, including going flat, but I don't think it's the "job" of a social media app likr Bluesky to support you. Support comes from people, not an app.

Anastrozole is not a fun drug. In addition to bone loss, other common side effects are weight gain, thinning hair, night sweats, and brain fog. It's very hard for women who have had breast cancer to tolerate this drug. It's not appropriate for healthy women.

Let's talk about the side effects. Anastrozole works best for post-menopausal women. It functions to eliminate 95% of any remaining estrogen. The result is a super-menopause and accelerated aging. Osteoporosis and osteopenia are definite risks. .

I usually vote progressive, but after meeting Melissa a few times, I voted Larry.

Have you ever met her? I voted Springer after encountering her a few times at PCO meetings. Very simply, character matters.

Congrats. As an academic, I understand the struggle.
