While in High School in the 70’s I attended the Writers Workshop Vonnegut led in the summer of 1974. One of my teachers got me in. It was amazing. My favorite novel is Dead Eye Dick - clap clap clap. Lol. The humor is profound

Read all 5. Naked and the Dead, Slaughterhouse 5 and Catch-22 were my faves - reread them multiple times. Read most of Mailer’s and all of Vonnegut’s works, including his short stories. I thought Wouk’s Winds of War was better than the Caine Mutiny, but the character development was better in CM.

I think everyone should spend 2 years in the military after high school before going to college, trade school etc. It is the best way to meet all kinds of people and learn to respect them and enjoy and profit from their differences.
