Sick to my stomach to think about him heading the NIH.

100 times this. Sick to death of this passivity.

It’s really hard for me to express how angry I am at Democrats for being so passive in the face of all of this. What in the world is Jeffries thinking, telling them not to make a scene? Al Green and the people holding up the signs are the only ones I have respect for right now.

This is why I get so angry at the Democrats right now. They’re being way too passive. They don’t understand that they need to take radical action that grabs the attention away from him. The game has changed and they’re still playing like it’s 20 years ago.

I can’t listen to him talk or even watch him move for more than 10 seconds before I have to change the channel. He makes my skin crawl.

Don’t link to crappy articles by cnn. Especially because they’re behind a firewall.

Thiessen can kiss my ass. Conservative hack.

Very disappointed in Carville. Honestly, he hasn’t gotten it right for a long time.

Sadly finally did so last week. The death of a once great newspaper.

Egad. That was painful to read.

Welcome back to the world of it being OK to vilify fat people and people with mental illness. Because after all, they just need to exercise more and get over it. Where is your willpower? 😡

The fence and security checkin didn’t happen until after 9-11. Until then you could freely drive onto or walk onto campus.

Typical.

PS — I’m not a scientist, but don’t underestimate how much those of us who supported the mission in administrative positions love the NIH. It’s such a special place and my heart is breaking over all of this.
comment in response to post
It’s very much appreciated. I have tried to respect that my friends who are still at the NIH are in a very difficult situation and so I’ve not been asking them for information, as I only have gov email mostly. Everybody is very paranoid. So the information you’re providing is really a lifeline.

They’re saying it’s not THAT Bragg. But you know that’s a wink and a nod.

Great news. And I understand that the stated audience here is scientists — but many current and former admin staff who follow this group are very invested in the NIH mission. A shout out of empathy would be welcomed — and acknowledgement of how the loss of their support will impact the mission.

Exactly what I said. And I would add Cheney to that list, if you want to talk about Republicans

Donald Trump is the anti-Harry Truman

Most secure jobs in Washington right now are attorneys specializing in labor law. Especially government labor law. My heart is broken, watching all of this

I’m so sorry this happened to you. And I’m so sorry that you only got to experience the NIH for such a short time. Everything you said about the culture of NIH is so true. It is very special place and only people who have worked there truly understand. As an aside…I think I recognize that view.

Fuck that Nazi asshole. He’s used up all his “mental illness” get out of jail free cards.
comment in response to post
I know this sounds cheesy — but I’m talking about a mass gathering in front of building one with everybody in lab coats. Think back to the act up demonstrations and how effective they were. 3/3

What needs to happen is something dramatic that will land this on the front page of every newspaper, and will result in short dramatic TikTok videos. We need to grab attention where the eyes are. 2/

This is a battle for attention. I can almost predict that there’s going to be a letter to Trump signed by dozens of Nobel laureates. Which he will completely ignore. Actually he won’t. He’ll say something ugly like they all got rich off government grants and they’re very low IQ individuals. 1/

I’ve been sick to my stomach for the past 24 hours. I’m not sure I can handle when they install that quack Bhattacharya. And who knows what nutjob Trump will choose for NCI. We’ll probably end up with some idiot who thinks abortion causes breast cancer.

Please let me live long enough to see that day. Oh what a glorious day.

The idea of him having anything to do with dictating the content of the arts makes me sick to my stomach. He’s never even set foot in the Kennedy Center. I’ll bet he’s never been to the symphony, the opera, or the ballet in his life.

Since most of them start in June, that application, interview , and hiring process should be underway now. The chaos and uncertainty that all of this is causing is so distressing.

She’s been Mara-lagoed. Eventually all the women look alike. I’m surprised she’s not blonde yet.

Stringy haired no talent drunk. Pretty typical that he would blame the audience for the fact that he doesn’t have the talent to get them engaged in his crappy performance.

Aaarggghhh. “Intramural” Apparently Bluesky doesn’t know that word. It must be chastised and trained. 😉
comment in response to post
You’re welcome. I also posted a second time and gave you a list of intramural accomplishments going back to the 50s. And I just discovered that you can’t edit posts here, which causes me untold pain because blue sky seems to think apostrophes make plurals. (Administrations)

So keep your mouth shut. And hope you wont be be singled out. That the president of the United States won’t say that you’re an enemy of the people, so you get death threats, and fear for your life and the lives of your family. And they can go about dismantling our democracy without interference.
