I recently came across videos on straw bale gardens. It gives a kind of raised bed garden along with planting material. I had never heard of it before, but it looks interesting.

My thought is it is more "if it doesn't affect me, then I don't care" mentality. My step mother is like that. It is all about her. Never thinking how decisions affect everybody else. Drives me crazy.

One of mine is cinder blocks and it worked OK. Not my favorite. If you try it, use something to hold the blocks together. My other is a kit with plastic planks. It works well and has held up. My concern with using wood is any chemicals that may be in the wood. Especially if it is for outdoor use.

Based on what you seem to read, you may enjoy The Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson. The audio book is read by Jennifer Wiltsie. She does a great job and the story is really interesting.

Wow!!! I can't imagine. They are my favorite. I used to have a box set that had all of their music in it. It was interesting hearing their progression. I really like a lot of their older stuff.
