While a nation has death camps and kills it's own citizens after years of torture, it can never really be seen as civilized.

It is the traditional day in Celtic tradition where the sun is at last high enough to generate power and hot water from the solar panels.

I collect a lot on the beaches of the Menai Straits. The challenge for me is how to dispose of them safely.

It can work well, as long as you do not get ill or require healthcare.

I spend long and happy hours untangling Christmas lights. The secret is to work from both ends.

I appreciate your point, but have you ever seen one of these petitions affecting Westminster legislation?
comment in response to post
I must admit,I am currently perplexed as to how to blame this whole thing, including the Syrian prisons and poison gas on the Israelis. Surely the is some certain way to do it ?
comment in response to post
These petitions are useless for promoting action in Westminster, but they do give politicians a good insight into the depth of feeling regarding certain issues.

I seem to recall there was uproar over " interference" when a few Labour supporters planned on going to the US to support the democratic candidate

We know that Climate change could well have catastrophic results, but if we state that something will happen more or less imminently , and it does not, people then lose confidence in the science. 20 years ago we were told the Arctic would have gone, that low lying cities would be underwater .

No, the doctor is informing the patient of a diagnosis, but if that Doctor continually tells people they have cancer, which it transpires they do not, it undermines confidence in that Doctors diagnoses.

There is a lot of 'ifs' here. Climate change is a real threat, but catastrophisation does not help the cause. Once something is predicted with a 'if this' and 'likely that', we are hostages to fortune. And if something does not happen, it is a gift to the deniers.

Sadly, farmers were told time and time again of the likely outcome of Brexit, but far too many still voted for it. Like the Fishermen, they believed the lies of the Clacton Ghost.

Do you recall there was a petition of a similar size regarding the folly of Brexit. It was roundly rejected by the same people who are probably signing this. Apparently democracy had decided and the majority ( who opposed Brexit) needed to suck it up.

I suspect that is more of the ruling classes not prioritizing their funds to meet the needs of the people. If the rest of the world gives them money to tackle climate change, we are in a way supporting that bad governance.

Does a nation like India with a thriving economy, a space program and some of the wealthiest people in the world really need international aid to achieve climate reduction targets ? Such anomalies really do not help.
comment in response to post
I must admit that it does not help when a nation like India with a space program and nuclear weapons claims it is not being given enough aid to tackle climate change.

No NHS, nurses, Doctors etc, no health. No Teachers, no education. No train drivers, no trains. No Builders, no houses. Maybe we all play our part and need to be treated equally ?

From the EU perspective it's leaders may consider the idea of the UK rejoining as 'once bitten......'

I thought the NS had slowly come to support Brexit and oppose the EU? Some of their writers are distinctly anti EU and sometimes anti Western. After many years as a subscriber I have been driven to cancelling my subscription.

Good luck with that. How about an arrest warrant for Erdogan as well due to his merciless bombing of Kurds and occupation of another country ?
