I think when people look back at why Labour and Greens were wiped out it will be for Irish Water and the Carbon tax respectively. Blunt instruments hitting peoples pockets with no change mgmt. I’d like to think that SocDems or Labour under IB are smart enough to learn those lessons in a coalition

In reality though, by the time another election comes around, and the 2029/30 government implements policies, a full generation will have been missed. Coalition Governments , like life, balances compromises. If your red lines prevent compromise then you are guaranteed to a lifetime of opposition

It’s funny, in Limerick City my experience is that the amount of new builds since Covid - specifically houses not apartments, in Raheen, Mungret, Ennis Road and Castletroy - are off the scale - including Social and ‘Luxury’ housing.
