Bad at keeping up with social media. Current (special) interests: Magnus Archives & Protocol, (very amateur) pottery <3, (and the intersection of databases with real-estate lease accounting because I am an utter and complete nerd) pronouns: she/her

If your version of revolution doesn’t look like people trying to care for each other in some fashion, you’re probably not ending capitalism.

So I don't have any deep conclusion. Only that I'm going to find and read Tanith Lee's Tales from the Flat Earth series, and Octavia E. Butler's Parable of the Sower, each for slightly different reasons.

Wow. Ok. That’s a take, I guess.

Pretty sure this is the store that I picked up yarn a few years ago, when I started knitting again after a 15-year hiatus. Was just looking for a new project, too, and ordered a kit that looks amazing!

So every time I hear a really stupid question, I hear my brother recounting a story from high school where a teacher reportedly said (in response to a stupid question) “There are no stupid questions. Only stupid people.”* *This may be apocryphal or a fever-dream

Yep. Just about the only thing I use the former bird site for anymore 😞

Yes, this! It has been just a continuous slog since 2016. Bringing joy into the public discourse has been transformational - and energizing. For the first time in a long time positive change feels possible

Wounded hearts are definitely my love language these days. Adding to my TBR. ❤️ Honestly just seeing that cover art hit one of those deep wordless childhood memories

Omg! I always loved The Westing Game (thank you Scholastic Book Club!), but it somehow never occurred to me that she would have written other books until this actual very moment 😱

No idea where it came from though. Never saw it outside of school

Omg! Yes! When I was in elementary school, chili and cinnamon roll day was the only day I ate school lunches 😋 (in Wyoming in the early 80s)

I mean, he’s definitely a close 4th for this exercise

Honestly? I’d be happy to take the chance on finding out. Send me a pack and I’ll let up know ☺️

Omg! I had that exact desk!

I don’t hate this one, but I doubt it will make it. The clay was a bit lumpy when I started working it (see: I didn’t feel like wedging wet clay from a failed throw) The bowl is passable, I think (if lopsided), but the bottom suuuuper thin. We shall see

I threw one more pot before switching to trimming. I wasn’t fully on board for this one (but it was easier than wedging and returning the clay because I’m never 100% sure whether to bag it, or leave it, or put it in the bucket and make it someone else’s problem)

I scraped my first attempt once it got a weak spot in the side and started going all ripply on me. My second attempt, though, is intriguing (the put on the right in this photo). It’s definitely lopsided at the top, and I may end up hating it, but for the moment it’s one I hope survives the process

I figured I would just spend the time trimming last week’s pots, since the clean up would be minimal and I’d be sure to be able to get my daughter’s car back to get in time for her to get to work… But I really wanted to throw something, so… 😏

(Really not sure this is going to be readable - not terribly familiar with how this platform will work yet) Due to schedule conflicts (and an unexpectedly long refueling stop at McDonald’s), I only had an hour and a half, rather than the two and three-quarters hours I had been planning on
comment in response to post
I realized that it would make a really nice record for me to keep the journey off each pot in its own thread, so I hope it doesn’t make it completely unreadable. Sorry! At any rate, got back to the pottery wheel today for open lab hours

I did manage to trim this one today. I’m still not sure how much I love it, but that makes it a good candidate for practicing handles, at least 🫠

Narrator Voice: This pot did not make it through the whole process.

I have only dabbled in photography, but that photo is amazing! Beautiful work! And how??????
