I’m just in utter shock at how bad user interfaces have gotten in Japan. I remember being able to buy train tickets by myself on the rail machines 20 years ago with out issue. Now even with an attendant I can’t figure this touch screen messes out.

Those book fairs were lit 😍

What’s a game you feel only you have played?

This looks nothing like a mutant ninja turtle…

Well I’ll be damned.

Just had one of my first real moments of feeling “old” lol Song playing in the Lyft sampled “Somebody that I used to know” & I was like, wow they’re sampling something so recent That song was released 14 years ago! 😭

It’s not so much a boring movie as a stretched one. It would’ve made a fine 1hr episode.

Met some cool chicks

I remember these. They were very effective commercials. I remember running into one in a library and being so disappointed with the content. I would’ve at least expected good pseudoscience…

Been in Japan for a week. It’s weird. I used to live here. It was so different back then. Everything was expensive back then including food. Now food is the same price and relatively cheap. Everything else has gone up. Inverting the relationship. It feels a bit like the U.S.

Rigged up a thing so my kid can change the color of her bedroom using her marker set!

I am coming around to why MCP is so impressive. For one of my side projects, I used to have to log onto my database admin (PgAdmin) to query stuff. I connected an MCP server to Postgres and can "talk" with my database (and data!) An uplevel in my productivity + ease of work.

These are great!

“You can’t have your cake and eat it too” is such a damn stupid phrase…I don’t want to own a cake for, like, display purposes. Is that a thing people want?? A /liability/?? No, I want to put it in my god damned mouth.

This is something we used to convert write a bit on @twit.tv when I was still doing TWiET. Fabs are exceptionally expensive, finicky, and notoriously obsolete.

Old meme, but I'm getting a laugh out of "months"

oh I didn't know the original pitched name for The Legend of Zelda was Death Mountain that's honestly a very book-like name

We're scanning video game trade magazines, and we came across this rare ad for Silent Hill. This would've been an ad for retailers, rather than the general public, so it has unusual selling points like "English dialogue recorded here in America" We don't think this has been scanned before...?

Robert McGinnis has died. An absolute icon of mid-late 20th century commercial #art and #illustration.

John Carpenter got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

I would never 😎 This comic is from our new book Treats! Back it on KS now! sarahgraley.com/treats 📚💖

My oven is a pretty standard thing but it has this feature called "rapid preheat" where it will run both the broil and the bake elements together until it's within 50° of your target. This feature is approximately 700X more useful and interesting than having it connected to the internet.

The Fifth Season is a masterpiece.

My colleagues and I now all enjoy when we get a really weird essay full of nonsense and odd grammar to mark, because it’s so clearly been written by an actual human

Today I went to see the tallest bronze Buddha in the world. Reminds me that even one man can have such a lasting impact that people build statues dwarfing the Statue of Liberty to honor their wisdom.

Filibuster comes from a word that means “free booty” as in pirate booty. What a strange word. Dutch -> French -> Spanish -> English.

This #dog has a PhD in #physics or what? How did she learn that?

Princeton has announced that it is considering selling approximately $320 million of taxable bonds. The bonds are a way for the University to raise short-term funds. The major credit-rating agencies rate University bonds AAA, the highest level of creditworthiness.
