“bad faith” may almost be too apt a descriptor for Brian Ingram’s whole schtick

This is quite good. It's a bummer losing restaurants and I think the city really does need to fix some big problems, but the constant bitching creates this false premise that is quite opposite of the positivity & love I see for St Paul mspmag.com/eat-and-drin...

Wowza

Good day for the person who coined “car dealership constituency”

Lindsay Graham doing his best trash can man impression, driving a nuclear warhead up to the White House lawn: “MY LIFE FOR YOU!!”

This seems about right

Way to go Karl

it's important this go as viral as the original story for morale purposes if nothing else. despite the image they project these people are NOT unaccountable. consequences CAN be forced. focused anger and outrage MATTERS.

My friend Maggie — one of the most devoted Wolves fans I know and a terrific all-around person — is dealing with some scary health stuff. Please help if you can and spread the word. gofund.me/e4c97ce0

Been a lot of talk about civic virtue today-this is the goods

The fuck

NO ONE should be sent to El Salvador, you baby-brained losers. My God.

After deep reflection, I’ve made the difficult decision to end my campaign for Mayor of MPLS. I got into this race because I love this city. But I’ve come to a hard truth: under the current political climate, I can’t be my authentic self and be a candidate in this race. (1/5)

This is basically the real life Stephen A holocaust tweet

Trump wants to go back to the golden age of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory is a more accurate characaterization - again based on his own repeated statements - than whatever wishcasting others are doing.

if we want to rebuild american institutions and earn back the world’s trust after this we cannot settle for half-measures. lots of people need to go prison. lots more need to be permanently stripped of wealth and power.

Is that @jdcmedlock.bsky.social ‘s music??

Every so often, it just comes back to me in full force. The political and economic order that allowed this man to come to power is obviously no longer tenable. The leaders who let it happen obviously have to be replaced. This is an epoch defining failure and we have to turn the page completely.

can we put a moratorium on the word “playbook”

People don't miss manufacturing jobs. They miss the effects of having 30+ percent union density. And we can build worker power again, with good policies, for the jobs most working class people actually have today rather than hoping mumbo jumbo will make it 1955 again.

Laughing at Musk creating his own personal brand of Streisand Effect

It's not just a lack of tension; influencers have zero motivation to mimic the ethics demanded by journalism b/c it slows down production. Lying/peddling unverifiable rumors and gossip can all be cranked out at scale. The economics of the attention economy demand that they mostly spew bullshit

The correct sentiment at the very least

Being snatched off the street for your opinions. I'll say it again. We are deciding, right now, whether the aspirations we hold for this country are finished. Whether we're going to let these hoodlums and grifters throw what's left of the American idea into the garbage for their own profit and gain.

One key to understanding our intellectual and political moment is that there are a lot of people who think the trick to being smart is to credulously accept whatever the *second* thing they hear on a subject may be

If Senate Dems really wanted to replace Schumer they could but I suspect his aversion to confrontation reflects the actual prevailing sentiment in the rest of the caucus, they don't want something different

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House. We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication. They own what happens next.

These are the same Senate Democrats who lectured the base for years about the importance of preserving the filibuster so it would still be available when Democrats were in the minority
