It is a political open goal to go after these companies. Theyβre unsympathetic, disconnected from humanity, their leaders are charmless and bland pseudo-people with a flimsy attachment to reality and nothing to lose. Run them into the ground - people love technology, but they hate the tech industry.

Will read later tonight. Thank you for having this pinned, because as soon as I heard about this blackout, I had flashbacks to a certain other blackout in sth Australia, and I was waiting to hear how the blame game would go and if there's any similarity in reaction vs actual causes.

I even went back to the shops because I forgot milk. Living dangerously.

Sorry, didn't clarify, I'm in Oz. Interesting comparing different regions with similar duopoly parties.

We'll see how the actual election goes, but it does appear that life has come at the LNP very fast. Labor struggling, but Dutton doing temu-trump turned into a problem so fast in the last few weeks. I assume proto trump is toxic everywhere now....

Just really begging any institution/leader in this country, be it Labor, a university or cultural org, to show a spine on anything. It's just don't rock the boat all the way down. π€¦

I'm on andriod so take this with a grain etc, but it's worth having a play with some of the other email clients out there these days. I'm giving spark a shot at the moment, on pc and phone. Read a few listicles for a sense of what's out there. I found the switch worth it.

10 mins is the way. FIBA/euroleague games are a much snappier and enjoyable experience on that front. (don't want to get into "better", but yeah, can we have the good bits from all the leagues please)

Also from Gittins...
"From the perspective of our children and grandchildren, the best election outcome would be a minority government dependent on the support of the pollies who do get the urgency of climate action: the Greens and teal independents"

I don't have to use word all that often these days, and for some reason AI shite in other of their office products is less annoying, but I am noticing that being on firefox is a weight lifted as far as AI faff. Feel like there should be some lists somewhere with lists of "luddite" app options.

In fairness, should also say its a good way to discover the limits of Ai too. Sometimes it totally makes up code syntax and options that don't exist.

Co-sign. They can get out of a lot of areas, please and thank you, but have been legit useful for various light coding/formula stuff for power automate and other such MS stuff I have to wrestle with.

At the professional level is particularly galling considering how much effort and craft is put into fooling refs. *sideeyes harden embiid trae et al*

I like a lot of the stuff people make games do. (pmc) fascinating and infuriating eps on roblox, war gaming and some others. Classic in genre of making you interested in stuff you don't think would be interesting.

Depending how you define recent, I'll always champion Counterpart. 2 seasons. Self contained. Covers all the story has to say. Satisfying.
