Government of the security risks, by the security risks, for the security risks.

The direct damage of Trump switching sides in the Russo-Ukrainian war is considerable but don’t sleep on the collateral damage. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article...

What saddens me even more is that beyond the malice of Trump and Vance there are dozens, possibly hundreds of people across the US government--good, hardworking, possibly pro-Ukraine, maybe even my former neighbors or students--quietly making all this happen. Simply following orders, so to speak.

“Transitioning” from 50 straight months of job growth, a 400% rise in manufacturing construction and the best back-to-back years for the stock market in a quarter century. 🤡

The silence from much of the Washington DC think tank world, while Trump is actively helping Putin kill Ukrainians is shocking. Where are all the analysts who were saying that they supported Ukraine?

Ukraine has supplied the U.S. with extensive intelligence and vast amounts of data on Russian technology, captured equipment, battlefield operational guides, weapon performance, and countermeasures against US provided systems. A shame no one seems to remembers or appreciates it

This is already a month old so you might have seen it already, but I am so impressed by the development of naval/maritime #drones or unmanned surface vessels, it can’t hurt reading it again. cepa.org/article/ukra...

Everything got so stupid so quickly.

Yes please

American intel on Russian missile attacks is still flowing to Ukraine, so can't blame the admin for that, but the intel pause does mean that Ukraine is fighting back against these strikes, to a greater degree than before, with one hand tied behind its back www.nytimes.com/2025/03/06/w...

Sent out this piece yesterday (all free). Its about the failure in strategic leadership over the last months--and why that failure has been less of a catastrophe because the Ukrainians were fighting more effectively than was being reported.

More importantly, if this is confirmed (as it likely will be), then there is effectively little difference between how China wields influence over its companies and how US private sector willingly falls in line with Trump‘s policies.

💢 Republicans urge Trump to resume military and intelligence aid to Ukraine

Same old story

A shared nuclear umbrella between Ukraine and Poland had already been proposed back in the 90s, were NATO not to accept Poland. Time to revive that idea.

This is the most dangerous, irresponsible framing imaginable. Not to mention it is bollocks. The big big winners from positioning Ukrainian security against poor British people & our public services are the far right. TAX THE RICH TO PAY FOR DEFENSE. PROTECT OUR WELFARE STATE.

Und in Deutschland gibt es immer noch Leute, die die ganze Story nicht kennen.

Well at least (proper) history books will make clear the inhumanity and viciousness of the United States against Ukraine.

Only 16% of Germans say one can trust the US. That’s just 6%pts over Russia and a minus of 38%pts. Source www.tagesschau.de/inland/deuts...

Ukrainian successes have been underreported for the entire war. Why? Toretsk was completely in the control of Russia, now Ukrainian forces have pretty much taken back the city.

A day later, I am genuinely marvelling at the fact that one of the most pro-Ukrainian officials in the Trump administration thought it was a good idea to publicly describe the intelligence cut-off as akin to hitting a mule in its face with a piece of wood to get its attention.

During a meeting with Putin, the mother of a deceased Russian soldier openly admitted to abducting a child from the occupied Kherson region and taking them to Russia. Another example of a heinous violation of human rights by Russia and its people.

I do not think people realize how comprehensive the Trump Administration is being in its attempts to help Putin kill Ukrainians. I have it on an excellent source that Ukrainian UAV operations are 15% less effective because of the US intel cut off.

Who even reports such nonsense? There is virtually no difference between membership and Art 5, when it comes down to it, other than in the area of joint defence planning; you can‘t have one without the other and vice versa.

Trump, running into trouble on the home front, will become ever more erratic in his foreign policy.

1/ In 🇩🇪 and elsewhere the discussion on whether or not the F35 should be cancelled or not starts to gain traction. Can we afford to cancel it? Can we replace it? Complicated, and the discussion would be more credible if not led by commercial rivals of Lockheed-Martin. www.welt.de/politik/deut...

History is littered with America’s Russia resets and with Washington supporting its own enemies only to be surprised by their hostility over and over again.

For the love of God, just do it.

Trump talking about nuclear disarmament is next level delusion. Nuclear proliferation is now more likely than ever as a result of Russia‘s invasion of Ukraine and Trump‘s catering to Putin‘s sick ambition.

Europe with nukes is good. Europe, with Ukraine as its integral part, with nukes is great.

NATO armies unprepared for drone wars, Ukraine commander warns www.reuters.com/world/nato-a...

Russia’s leaders have said nothing about peace. They have made a list of demands on the US, the fulfillment of which allows them to broaden the war against Ukraine. And the US simply fulfills all of these Russian demands without question. That is only a peace process in the Orwellian sense.

🇪🇺✈️ A European air force of 120 fighter jets could secure Ukraine’s skies from Russian attacks without escalating the war, say military experts. The proposed Sky Shield would be EU-led, separate from NATO, and protect Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv & nuclear plants. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/m...

The EU must defeat Russia in Ukraine or prepare to fight Russia in the EU.

We are on the brink of decoupling 2.0.

Ironic

Ukraine cannot negotiate with Trump. How can you negotiate with someone who is trying to remove your government with the other hand and stab your soldiers in the back?

Ukrainians now: screw the diplomats and the Americans, let's kick some Russian arse

Rumor has it Trump Admin is trying to work with Ukr opposition to remove Zelenskyy. Not to mention that this is a regime change operation, Trump, like Putin, shows utter ignorance re: Ukraine. The opposition will not play along, bc the Ukrainian people won‘t let them, even if they wanted to.

Guy can‘t even be consequential about his own crappy decisions.

Really important article in @foreignaffairs.com by former Ukrainian Defense Secretary Andriy Zagorodnyuk. Its about how Ukraine can fight on effectively without any US aid. It’s key to understand that Trump is full of BS when he says Ukraine has "no cards". www.foreignaffairs.com/ukraine/ukra...

My proposed German neologism: Weltmerz. Noun. "The feeling that reality might turn out slightly better than Europeans are accustomed to, which creates a strange mood of cautious optimism on security and defense."
