Oh she raised her ‘concerns’ and then said he assured her he’d ‘re-examine’ the issues she raised w/ him. I’m sure he went and did immediately after his confirmation. 🙄

She found her spine finally? Wish she’d done that for RFK Jr.

There are quite a few GOP reps and senators who are against this. They need to speak up now or their constituents will be hurting.

I was listening to the Offline podcast today - it’s part of Pod Save America’s pods, but they interviewed Dr. Steven Levitsky who has written a paper about this called it ‘competitive authoritarianism’ which leaves democracy in place but the administration regularly abuses it.

I’m not saying they’ve had to personally deal with it themselves. I’m saying it’s likely they know someone who has had to. You can’t watch someone in your family die and not know that someone else has had to do that paperwork. Or they’re just feigning ignorance.

I think planes falling out of the sky have now replaced the daily shootings that we’re known for. Now it’s just going to be YOU get a plane crash and YOU get a plane crash! I’m probably wrong. There are probably still as many shootings. Just a lot more plane crashes.

Not even 40 years ago. Just imagine if Obama had done this they would be losing their shit.

Shockingly quite a few GOP members of Congress spoke out in favor of Ukraine and spoke out against what Trump said. I was stunned. Collins even said something Trump did was clearly unconstitutional. Maybe.. just maybe some are finding their backbone? Prolly too soon to tell tho.

I agree they’re delusional but I also think it’s that incel anger at ‘sticking it to the libs’ or whatever shit they think they’re enjoying. When it hits them that they’re also paying higher prices, their meds cost more or worse, aren’t avail anymore, we’ll see.

They are killing it. I can’t say I’m seeing a lot of action of others but over here in CT our reps & senators are regularly doing town halls. John Larson has one tomorrow & Sen Murphy and Blumenthal have done one in our neighborhood a couple wks ago. Murphy has been very outspoken.

I don’t think everyone will believe that if they’ve had a loved one die. I mean death is pretty common. It’s not like his supporters don’t experience that around them. They have Google. They have to know half the shit he says isn’t accurate.

So let's let's call this complicated bird flu situation what it is: an outbreak on the precipice of catastrophe, an administration with no coherent plan, and a defunded, demoralized federal workforce as the first line of defense.

We fear that the administration's new approach may be to defund surveillance and say there's no problem. They've already "accidentally" fired USDA scientists working on bird flu, oopsie!

The administration has announced a new plan to move from culling to biosecurity and "medication". Medication might mean poultry vaccination. But we know poultry vaccines can cause sub-clinical infections in still-contagious birds that would cripple our ability to export eggs (eggsport, if you will)

The virus has also spilled into mammals, endangering wildlife and dairy cows. And then there are human infections - 69 so far. The current variant, D1.1 is troubling as it may be more conducive to spread in mammals, including people.

Over 120 million egg-laying hens have been affected in the US, with terrible cost (financial, emotional, and physical) to farmers. There are currently 8% fewer commercial egg-laying hens than three years ago, including those that have died from the virus and those that have been culled.

It’s not like any of us wouldn’t like to eliminate waste in the govt. But it’s clear that’s not really the goal or you’d keep all the inspectors general who already do that. It’s a revenge tour for Musk to go after depts he wants dismantled or to work in his favor. Trump too ultimately.

I think that’s what Iran would say they’re doing. We don’t know that for sure tho. It’s not like dictatorships don’t lie for some sort of leverage when they imprison foreigners.
