"Historians will forever remember when we held up very small signs." Democrats right now

When I say that no gov/policy/media/organizing work can be effective without acknowledging that a solid 30-40% of the US is living full-time in an ARG that positions verifiable reality as an evil illusion, this is what I am talking about.

The first post on C&D in years is, of course, highly topical: www.tumblr.com/calvinanddun...

All without building a bunch of new gas plants, which utilities are currently racing to do at the behest of big tech. Because gas - well understood, quick to build, and dispatchable - is the easiest path for both, climate be damned. We can only hope they read this report.

American threats to annex Canada predate Canada... and were a reason for confederation to begin with: www.cbc.ca/news/politic...

I read and loved these books as a kid. Sad I can't go in person, but looking forward to a stream. ☺️

"there actually has been a really important right-wing strain in Silicon Valley for decades at this point. And a lot of what we’re seeing right now is that coming to fruition, really reaching an apex, rather than emerging out of nowhere." -- @beccalew.bsky.social

Some important & timely resources here! 🔌💡

Today, honor a King, not a Felon. #mlkday2025

Don't sleep on the croffle in the background.

I probably have a different take on Zuckerberg's announcing the end of 3rd party fact checking. This is just acknowledgement of a failed status quo on their platform. Nothing changes the fact that FB manufactured this status quo or the absurdity of blaming news organizations for their failures.

I was peripherally aware of negative stuff about Carvana, but this is a whole other level. I'd already decided not to sell them my car, but WOW.

I wrote a piece a while back trying to work through my frustration with the state of pop culture criticism in the age of social media and publication collapse. Revisiting it, I think it still holds up. Here's "Skeleton Criticism." www.patreon.com/posts/37314871

The first, but far from the last. www.404media.co/i-went-to-th...

Yes, theae are all for me, why do you ask?

I'm back.

Now that #EnergySky is here, I might post some professional interest stuff. When I was at NextEra, we mostly kept to ourselves, but since leaving I've seen things I was part of show up in public investor decks, so I figure it's OK to at the least admit what I worked on!

I was thinking about this, and then saw that it's BEAR MCCREARY asking. Goddamn. It's hard for me to pick entire scores, as opposed to individual pieces (like his Watchtower). But... Hollow Knight - Christopher Larkin StarCraft - Stafford, Duke, Hayes, Bush Cowboy Bebop - Seatbelts 🧵...

Today would have been Carl Sagan's 90th birthday. He wrote this in 1995. Carl was absolutely right. #CarlSaganDay

There's so much "why Harris lost" content out there. But this piece gets at the heart of why so many people feel worse off now than under Trump: pandemic support policies directly helped a lot of people... and then ended. jacobin.com/2024/11/elec...

It has now been 18 hours since my alarm went off in Sicily, 12 clock hours ago. And I'm not quite there yet! But it's all been very smooth so far.

A side effect of food poisoning getting me up at 5 yesterday was seeing this sunrise

☑️ Went to Sicily ☑️ Gorged on fresh raw fish ☑️ Got food poisoning (Although TBH I'm not totally convinced it was the fish.)

Yep. And there's a lot more--not easy, but doable--work to be done.

Hania Rani in concert. So cool. And there were even a few people in masks.

This is an extremely sweet article that anyone who's had deep online friendships will appreciate. www.thetimes.com/life-style/p...
