Split keyboards are simply better than non-split keyboards but the retail options out there are paltry. I talked about why I love them, why they're better, DIY electronics, and how the lack of commercial options turned me into the hardware freak and writer I am today. For @aftermath.site

one of the insidious things about trump is how he just enables incompetence across the board. everything just works worse when he's president because people figure, if a completely incompetent moron is president, why should I give a shit? the shift was clearly observable in 2017 and it is again now

People assume Andrew Cuomo is tough and A Fighter because he always looks angry and acts weird. Mistaking a total lack of emotional self-regulation and wild, self-destructive spite for Masculine Strength is one of the defining political errors to me. No one even tries to keep it together anymore.

This whole country wants bad things for others more than they want good things for themselves.

What the fuck were they thinking

Ah shit it turns out the problem with conservatism is that conservatives are all evil

This is a *really* important point for us to keep in mind as citizens. We can’t beat ourselves up for having our attention grabbed by the prurient, but we have to recognize it! @chrislhayes.bsky.social

we are getting stories crazier than watergate every single day and no one bats an eye at them anymore. society has hypernormalized intense corruption that it feels like NOT being openly corrupt hinders you

it’s crazy it took 248 years for a president to realize he can do anything illegal and it doesn’t really matter too much. you can sort of just do whatever, it’s chill

"Do what Mitch would do..." No, not even close. Mitch didn't do even 1% of what could be done by a minority determined to keep the Senate grinding in circles getting absolutely nothing done. They should be blowing past McConnell-level obstruction in a way that makes it look like business as usual.

The part of your brain the creates and the part of your brain that edits are different. When you edit while writing, you switch your mode of thinking and can gum up the works, so to speak, knocking yourself out of your groove. Correct obvious mistakes, but knock out your pages and edit them after.

not the first time this has been pointed out: but this has to be the most purely stupid way a 1st-ranked global empire has decided to immolate itself

It's really wild when you sit down and think about it, that really, the only actual idea that demonstrably is elon musk's own, entirely, and not him buying a company to do something, is "there should be a website called X" and that has been his definitive life's work, his real driving passion

Me: Oh no that trolley is going to run us over! Guy tied up on the track next to me who somehow thinks he's actually the guy holding the lever: Lol cry more 😂

so, in general AI safety is important. Generative AI safety conversations, in my mind, are used as a smokescreen to juice up how significant gen. AI is. Notice that they are mostly NOT focused on things like scams, spam, copyright theft, environmental damage, or anything else actually happening

A lot of liberals on here seem unable to wrap their minds around the idea that what this guy did for a $10 million salary plus perks, bonuses, and stock is also violence

in other "look at where this guy comes from" news, Elon Musk's father just did a lengthy podcast episode that opens with the host saying "I bet the last time you had this many black people in your house someone was trying to rob you" youtu.be/KH1U5x8LXgs?...

Lesson Number One:
